A Slice of Life
Chase finished his work for the day and saw it was almost time to pick up Maddie from work. It had been five months since she moved back and fixed the old barn; every weekend something seemed to be happening there and it brought the town together. Chase worked with Maddie on hosting the events or planning them. He was even in the process of renting it out to others. Things with them were going good they found they still liked each other a lot and started dating. Even his sister, Emily, reconnected with Maddie and they were hanging out again. Finished with loading his tools, Chase took off towards the bakery.

Uptown Barn
Maddie looked at the old barn. The paint faded long ago and some of the boards needed replacing however the foundation was solid. Growing up this was the place to be on the weekends, it was party central, from cookouts and picnics to barn dances and late night karaoke parties it was fun. Looking at the old run down barn now it was hard to believe such fun times were ever had here. Maddie’s goal was to change all that, she wanted to bring back the good times, the fun times. It would keep the kids out of trouble and bring the town together again. She worked hard to get this barn; hopefully the town will help her get it back to its previous condition.

The Heart in Chaos
It has been almost two years since the world was thrust into chaos. First there was a war which led to an outbreak of a deadly plague. Once the plague was controlled and a cure was found another war was fought for said cure. The outcome of that war was the world being torn into pieces with leaders rising from the ashes and making new colonies. New colonies with new rules and a new way to run things which made them not get along. Instead of breaking out into another war the two colonies decided that they would be peaceful and just divide the land. The people got to decide which side they wanted to live on, but once they picked a side they had to stay there forever. However, there were a few outsiders who just roamed wherever they pleased.

Baking the stress away
Everyone has hobbies, something they love to do to relieve stress or pass the time. Sometimes those hobbies pay off by becoming a lucrative business, sometimes they do not. Either way having a hobby is good especially if you are having fun and being creative. My sister is very creative and has all kinds of things that she dabbles in; she can paint, sculpt, draw, sew and crochet. My best friend makes jewelry out of flowers and resin and is also a professional photography. Even my child is crafty by drawing, painting and making things out of paper. Most crafting hobbies have something in common, scissors! Scissors help to cut and shape things when crafting. Some don’t know or realize it but my hobby includes scissors too.

Boss Moms
Mother, Mama, Mommy, Mom, Madre, Ma these are all words used to describe a significant force in our lives. Step- moms, adoptive moms, foster moms, bonus moms are all important as well. Mothers are strong, capable and usually the backbone of the family, they help when we need them, they support us and are our number one fans. Some people grow up with one influential boss mom, I grew up with many. Three in particular that helped mold me into who I am with lessons they taught me.

Ships battle
Lily held on tight to the ships wheel while looking over the bow of the ship. She looked towards the horizon and saw something. She didn’t know what it was, it was too far away. Lily steered her ship closer and closer then she saw it, the ship on the horizon. She wondered what kind of ship it was, friend or foe. Lily grabbed her spyglass to try to get a closer look at the ships flags, she didn’t see any. That was odd she thought, every ship she has come across had flags. Playing it safe she decided to turn away from the ship.

Date or Dare
Bittersweet, like the first sip of a glass of Merlot, that is how Serenity would describe this date. Too good to be true or unexpected would be another way to describe it. She did not even want to go on this date but her best friend, Rain, insisted she get out more. Serenity remembered the conversation all too well, it did happen only a week ago.

Little Black Book
Riley walked out the bank frustrated with how her meeting went. A small loan is all she needed to help get her bakery started. Collateral the rude man said, “We don’t just give out loans to anyone, we need collateral”. She would show him, she would show everyone in that fancy bank. Deep in thought Riley did not see the black book on the ground and stepped on it which caused her to slip and fall. Who left this here she asked herself; there was no name, no address, nothing to say who it belonged too. Riley sat on a bench in the park and flipped through the black book wondering what it was and how it ended up in the street. There was a string of numbers on the first page that read 89414; underneath the numbers was a location. That is odd Riley thought, must be some weird meeting. She stuffed the black book back into her bag and headed to the library.
