No One Goes to Ireland For the Food
When I saw this challenge I was initially offended. I don’t have the money to travel all over, and I don’t have relatives who taught me amazing dishes from their home countries. Even if I did, I don’t cook, and I’ve only been out of the Americas twice, to the same place. That place being Ireland, the land of my father’s roots.

The Beacon
Em woke to the light, as always. She got to her feet shakily, reassessing her surroundings. Nothing new. Grey skies tinted by the constant falling of ash all around. The ground was cracked and warm to the touch, red-brown rock and clay for miles in each direction.

To Find Your People, Create The Thing You Want To Consume
From an early age, my number one passion was writing. I loved to construct stories and fill them with characters. I loved how putting words on a page allowed me to express myself in a way I, a heavy introvert, could never seem to do in day-to-day life, face to face with others. Over the years, I’ve written several fiction manuscripts and a not-inconsiderable mountain of poetry. I’ve also journaled for periods of years at a time. And though I’ve tried to secure an agent for some of my writing- hell, I even self-published a trilogy under a different name that no one read - I’ve never been able to make reliable money writing doing it. Not uncommon for an author, I know, especially if you're considered 'niche.'

Paint It Black
“Sometimes, you have to get angry to get things done” - Ang Lee It started with anger. I was a blocked writer working at a day job that didn’t pay a lot but still paid more than anything I’d ever done. I had spent my life doing the bare minimum to please outer expectations while trying to pursue my own inner dreams. But somewhere along the line, those dreams got quieter and I got more tired. The only thing consistent was the guilt, screaming at me the whole time: you will be a total failure if you give up on art. Otherwise, what’s all this been for?

True Freedom in Structure
Do you have things constantly yapping around your head, begging for your attention? “Ohh, I NEED to do blank by blank but ALSO I’ve been wanting to do X this month and I never get the time, and I know I want to make more time for family, and I wanted to plan this trip, learn this new skill, work at changing jobs, etc etc ETC."

The Science of Souls
What if I told you that reincarnation is a real scientific subject of study? Not kidding. Not too long ago, I read a book by Jim. B. Tucker called Return to Life in which he recounted his work, first under Ian Stevenson who died in 2007, and then on his own, to get to the bottom of why so many young children seemed to know things it was impossible for them to know about a past life they insisted they had lived.

A Zodiac Love Poem From Me to Me A/N: I’ve always been one of those people who felt I matched my sun sign, Aquarius, really well in regard to both the positives and the negatives. Creative, open-minded? Yes. Aloof/detached at times and stubborn? Also yes. When I first found out my moon sign a year ago though, I didn’t get it. Aries? Hot-headed, impulsive, entrepreneurial Aries?? But reading into it deeply really helped me see how this side of me manifested in my closest personal relationships and allowed me to understand myself on a deeper level. It also prompted me to think about how these dual aspects of me- sun and moon- play together and inform one another when it comes to living life in my own way and my drive to achieve my goals. This poem is like a conversation between my sun and moon, a meeting and a melding of purpose.
