Amazon? AmazOFF!: The Shopping List that saved Christmas
I cannot help to ignore the fact that this year's Christmas has officially been cancelled. On the 19th of December, Boris Johnson, The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom announced a new tier 4 in the country. If you are unaware of how our government is tackling pandemic, the tier system determines which parts of the country are allowed to have certain freedoms depending on its infection rate against its population. The higher the infection rate per 100,000 residents, the higher the tier you are placed in. The tier limits certain aspects of daily life, such as mixing with other households indoors, hospitality venues being shut and travel restrictions. Before yesterday, the 3-tier system was in place with a 5-day Christmas window that allowed people to go and spend the holiday with their family. This included travel to other cities and removal of stricter rules, such as mixing households indoors. As I am writing this, all has changed in the UK, and Christmas is officially over before it even started.

Hosting my First Traditional Polish Christmas
This year's Christmas is a Christmas I will never forget. Since the end of November, I was ready to travel home up North to see my family for Christmas. Spending Christmas in a cramped London apartment was not really on my wish list this year. The UK was promised a five-day window where people could visit their loved ones for Christmas and mix households indoors. I understood why this would cause turmoil if people would not be able to visit family during Christmas, but Coronavirus would take this opportunity and reverse all the progress we made earlier this year. To no surprise, this window was removed, and the south of the UK was placed in a new tier 4, mimicking restrictions of a national lockdown. This stopped all transport in and out of London as well as complete removal of household mixing, unless for medical support and other reasons along these lines. I was thrown off and it began to dawn on me that Christmas was cancelled completely, however, with the morale boost I received from my family, I decided to host my first ever traditional Polish Christmas. I was pulling out all the guns blazing: a twelve-dish feast, setting up a festive table, no eating meat all day (apart from fish for some reason), sharing the body of Christ and a festive speech by the host. There was so much to do in so little time, I did not think it was realistically possible. However, once I gathered all my ingredients and decorations, I realised that there was no turning back. I will guide you through my process of hosting my very own Polish Christmas Eve, or Wigilia in Polish.

Pokemon+Puns = Best Christmas Cards!
Christmas is a time for family, friends and the less fortunate than us. There are many traditions that families do every year that are only there to bring a smile to everyone's face and have a little bit of fun within all the chaos. The UK Christmas culture has engraved itself in the Christmas card exchange culture, and my family and friends are no different! Every year, I exchange cards with others within a specific theme of our choice. In the previous years, our themes included: Star Wars, Marvel Superheroes, Countries and Nations and many more. There is only one rule: they must contain a Christmas pun. The more unique, the better! Here are 5 Christmas cards that I have created for my friends this year.

Bone Daddies! Could this be London’s best Ramen?
Being in a pandemic can make it particularly hard to enjoy a meal out, but so many restaurants are doing their best to keep their customers safe and still make a profit (or in some cases, just breakeven.) If you are confident in your ability to keep yourself and others safe too, then why not take the time to eat out! Support a business AND get out of the house! It’s pretty much a win-win situation. We, the writers at People! Just Say Something! decided to enjoy an evening out at a locally famous ramen bar that has been growing for the last eight years. Bone Daddies describe themselves as a ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Ramen Bar’ that want to challenge the way that people perceive Japanese food!
