The Meeting
“Good morning everyone and welcome to our first meeting. Now we are all here because at one time or another we have struggled with one of the toughest ailments known to writers. Writer’s block. As a writer myself there have been many times I sat staring at a blank page with nothing coming to me. Other times I have had countless ideas that I ended up hating or not being able to make work in the long run. This is a safe space for us to talk and discuss some of the things that inhibit us from our passion. It is an opportunity to share your stories and hopefully find support in one another to get through it. I welcome you all, who would like to go first?”

New Year, A More Rested YouTop Story - December 2021
New year, new me. It's a cliche saying that we have all said at least once in our lives. At one time or another, we all had this crazy idea that within a year's time we could completely reinvent ourselves and our lives. One thing that remains true every year is it's an unachievable goal and we put way too much stress on ourselves trying to achieve it. Well, this new year I say no more! Instead of a new you this year, how about you strive for a more rested you? Here's how we can do that.

An Adult Letter to SantaTop Story - December 2021
Dear Santa, I know I’ve been saying for a while that I will call, or text, or even write. Life has been so busy I haven't had the time to do any of those things, no matter how often I tell my children I will. Sometimes I think they try to keep me busy on purpose, so I don't have the opportunity to. I'm sure you can figure out why as you see everything. Now that I have a moment to myself, I figured it was time to truly reach out. There are just a few things I want to discuss with you, and I hope you take the time to consider them all. It really isn't anything major. I'm just making sure we are on the same page to ensure a fantastic holiday for everyone.

Ugly As a Mother: Mom Guilt
Guilt can be an overbearing enemy some days. It washes over me randomly some days as I reflect on times I could’ve been better. My children know every button of mine to press, they know every nerve to get on, and they can’t help it and don’t always mean to. At the moment though, I forget, and because I forget I feel guilty.

Some Days and Sometimes
Some days my mommy had so much energy she would play all day and almost all night with me. We would laugh together and sing, and she would take me to so many places. Those were some of my favorite days. On those days we would listen to music all day and during the night she would play it so loud that it would keep me up. The next day I would be really tired at school, and one time I accidentally fell asleep on the bus and missed my stop. That day my mommy yelled and I cried. She was mad because she was busy when she had to get me from the bus station. I don't sleep during bus rides anymore.

When the Last Leaf Falls
The brisk morning breeze sent fallen leaves chittering across the asphalt. I pulled the soft throw blanket further over my shoulders, holding it close to my chest to block the cold morning air. My slipper-covered foot rested on the porch as I rocked gently in my chair. I peered over the railing into the front yard and took in the view. The green grass had its tips painted with frost that glistened in the morning sun; many of the surrounding trees were missing a majority of their leaves; the air smelled of decomposing leaves and frost. I tightened my grip around my cup of tea to warm my fingertips.

What's In the Cards
Not many people believe in fate or destiny. There are many paths in life that open many windows of opportunity, but no matter which path we take we are always destined to end up in the same place. Our fate is already set for us, and with every one of our actions, there is a chain reaction that opens and closes the next windows of opportunity on our path to reach that fate. On those days where we each wonder if we are doing the right thing for ourselves, if we made the right choices, and if the here and now is where we are meant to be just know the answer is yes. It's what's in the cards for you. What was in my cards is what led me to you.

Ugly As a Mother
It all starts with that little test. You sit waiting eagerly in the bathroom for those two lines; that plus sign with the one line to follow; the electronic screen with the word pregnant. What follows is the overwhelming feeling of excitement, followed by anxiety, and maybe a tiny bit of fear. After the grand announcement, everyone has so much advice to offer you. Strangers in the grocery store will tell you to sleep while you can because new babies never sleep. Your family will tell you not to spoil the baby, set rules early, and they hope the baby turns out to be just like you so you can experience all the hell you put them through. Other mothers will bombard you with questions on your approach to parenting so they can turn their noses up and judge you.
