Memory
I know everyone has an opinion when it comes to what they enjoy watching. We also have expectations about certain movies, actors, and actresses. But, that being said, I don't think this movie got the love it deserved. Memory is a powerful story highlighting the inequalities that exist in society and how the poor and powerless become pawns in the hands of the rich and powerful. The law is served raw and undiluted to the first group while creating loopholes for the second to wiggle out and subvert the process. It also discusses terminal illness (Alzheimer's); politics; policing; child prostitution, social and financial inequality as well as other issues. We should give Liam Neeson his due. He is a gifted and experienced actor. In this movie, he is the central figure and his performance determines the movie's success or otherwise.

Lessons From Turkish Drama
Battle of the sexes romcoms where the 2 leads start out as mortal enemies and somehow end up in love are regular staples but, have you watched one with a Turkish twist? Ask Taktikleri (Love Tactics) is a glitzy and glam, fast-paced rom-com where the 2 leads battle it out in the never-ending battle of the ages - Who runs the world, the guys or the girls? Who is going to win? Who is going to fall? or is the endgame much more predictable than we would wish?

Manifest
Manifest is an intriguing story and a mix of many different things. If you like modern mystery, and adventure with a dash of the supernatural, you will like this series. It might confuse, confound or challenge you depending on where you are on the divide. It might also question your views on faith, belief, destiny, predestination, and the supernatural. This is because it attempts to glue so many things together - faith, religion, history, science, agnosticism, archeology, astronomy, philosophy, Egyptology, and lots more. What it does have going for it is the suspense and mystery which keeps viewers going back for more. In addition, this series shines a light on everyday issues as well as some of life's more perplexing mysteries.

Purple Hearts
When Netflix hypes a film, you just gotta watch it - Right? Everyone has been raving about this movie. I finally see what the hype was about. Purple Hearts is one of Netflix's unexpected success stories considering its relatively unknown cast and comparatively low budget. Spending 27 days on the top 10 list with total viewing hours of over 200 million, it seems to be one gamble that has paid off for the streaming giant.

Lessons From Turkish Drama
Love and its many complexities have been the subject of hundreds of movies and drama series. The constant steam of romantic comedies reminds us that the genre is still a crowd favorite. If for no other reason, they serve to keep audiences constantly amused. Bay Yanlis (Mr. Wrong) is a classic romantic comedy story of how Mr. Wrong meets Miss. Unlucky in Love. Throw into that mix, jealousy, envy, betrayal, distrust, hate, sibling and family rivalry, blackmail, treachery, and every other ingredient for explosive drama and you have a series sure to keep you laughing till the very end.

Lessons From Turkish Drama
May I Never Be At The Mercy Of My Enemy In My Time Of Dire Need Or Trouble - Quote by Author This quote rings true in the Turkish drama series Kiralik Ask (Love For Rent). Sometimes, in our bid to solve pressing problems or get out of troubling circumstances, we fall into the hands of opportunists who capitalize on our dire situations. This was what befell Defne Topal, the female protagonist in this series. In an attempt to rescue her brother from harm, she accepts a dubious offer that ends up complicating her life.

Fatherhood
Kevin Hart is well known for his comedy roles. It was quite refreshing to see him step slightly out of character for his role in Fatherhood. I say slightly because it is not possible for Kevin not to add a bit of comedy to everything he does (a case in point is the diaper-throwing scene in this movie). He plays a recently bereaved husband navigating life with a newborn. He is all heart and soul in this beautiful movie about life, grief, pain, parenthood, family, love and friendship.

They say when you tell one lie, you tell a thousand more to make that one true. This is Ada's hilarious story in Baht Oyunu (Twist of Fate/Game of Destiny). She comes from a family history where it is erroneously believed that a woman who does not marry her first love will be unhappy for the rest of her life. When this does not work out, Ada believes herself doomed for life and puts plans in motion to win back her first love who has moved on. Of course, this throws up unintended consequences and is a harbinger of much confusion.
