The Never-ending First Date
When Ayana woke up this morning she washed her face, got dressed, prayed, then checked her phone notifications as she does every day. To her surprise, she received a friend request from a young man she had gone to school with named Mufasa. Ayana had not heard from nor seen him in over twenty years. Ayana immediately accepted his friend request on Facebook and received a call from him through messenger. As they were catching up Mufasa mentioned that he was still living in Colorado, and he owned his own company making cameras. Mufasa had been called to serve in the military straight after graduation, it broke Ayana's heart to hear stories about what he experienced in the Gulf War. Ayana told him that ironically she was currently living in Texas and was planning to move back to Colorado in six months. When he asked her what type of career she chose for herself, she told him that she was an author of several spiritual books. Ayana also talked about how much she enjoyed taking pictures and wanted to buy a new camera as well as take some photography classes this year. Before they got off the phone he asked her if she was married? When she said that she was not, he shocked her by confessing that he had always wanted to go on an official date with her since the sixth grade. He was afraid to express his feelings because he did not want to destroy their friendship if the feeling were not mutual. Ayana honestly never thought about dating anyone during that time, she was too busy working and going to school. She could not believe that all the time she spent with him during her high school years she never knew how he really felt.

HOW I GOT GCATS & A GPUP
When my daughter was nine years old she rescued a kitten from a neighbor in our apartment complex. The elderly man had over twenty cats that were all being neglected in a two-bedroom one-bathroom unit. The kitten was covered in fleas. It was so small she fit in one of my daughters' hands. At the time neither my daughter nor I knew anything about taking care of a cat. I never had any animals of my own when I was growing up because I traveled out of town too much. We made a horrible decision to give the cat a shower. Alexandria held the cat to her chest while I washed it with flea soap and warm water from an adjustable shower head. The cat had fleas coming out of its eyes and getting all over Alexandria, not to mention its claws were hurting my poor daughter. We were able to get quite a bit of the fleas off of the kitten especially after drying her and putting flea powder all over her and the room they stayed in. Alexandria was traumatized from the whole shower experience and after only one short week she found a home for the kitten.

If Karate, Then Viki.Com
I have always loved watching karate movies at first I would fall in love with an actual actor like Jet Li, then I would watch every movie that came out with him acting in it or that he was involved in the making of. I still can not get over the fact that he was involved in forty-seven films, six documentaries, and one music video.

Strength Of A Phoenix
Dear Big Sis, As you know for the past three months I have been entering challenges one after another on www. vocal. media, trying to improve my writing and make some much-needed money. Well, I came across a challenge that immediately made me think of you. When I read the words, "This challenge is dedicated to all the strong women in our lives...kept us inspired, and motivate us to rise." These words do not describe anyone in my life but you.

Financial Freedom
The first time I saw Lynn Richardson she was a guest on one of my favorite YouTube channels. The channel is called, "His and Her Money." She caught my attention by making me laugh. I enjoy her sarcasm and blunt way of speaking. When coach Richardson really gets into what she is saying she starts to sound like a preacher and anyone listening cannot help but feel a strong desire to say, amen sister.

The "Magic" in black business.
I have to say that I honestly admire, Earvin "Magic" Johnson. I did not have a clear vision for what I wanted to do with my life, now that it was not being revolved around my children. I knew that I enjoyed writing and wanted to see where it could take me. However, after reading Mr. Johnson's book and learning about his vision that drove him to build, repair, and create jobs, businesses, and decent communities for Urban America I was truly inspired.

My business meeting lasted longer than scheduled. I am headed to the airport now, hopefully I will be there by the time you finish getting manicures and pedicures. I hope you have a wonderful day together love you both dearly."

Dear Mr. Trump
Dear Mr. Trump, Right now I am in awe, I just got finished reading goodbye letters that other writers have left you and I am shocked. I really had mixed feelings as to rather or not, I should share how you being a President actually affected me in the last four years. Well, for starters I have never been interested in politics or elections. I to this day have never voted for anyone. I always hated when my favorite television program would be interrupted, because a President needed to give a speech. I also did not feel comfortable voting for someone I did not even know as a person.

Starting Over At 49
Who would have ever thought that divorcing the father of my children in 2017, would lead me to being laid off by my children in 2019. I spent eighteen years being a housewife and devoted mother. I did not have a plan B. I never made yearly resolutions that did not include my children. However, due to the simple fact that I was not able to afford to take care of my children alone in Houston, Texas without living in an awful neighborhood, working four jobs, leaving them home alone after school and on weekends. I had to give up my full custody rights, and let their father raise them. My biggest fear had become a reality. I then became homeless and was forced to reevaluate my life.

Just Because I'm Homeless...
In 2018 I worked for a gas station called, Zip In Zip Out. I was hired to keep the whole property clean. This meant that I did not only clean the inside of the gas station, I also went outside a lot to make sure it was clean as well. One day I noticed a person laying down on the side of the building by the dumpster. She was wearing thick sweatpants, and a sweatshirt in the summer sun. I remember thinking to myself this is a bad neighborhood full of gangs, Mexican construction workers, and African American dope dealers. Where did this older looking Caucasian lady come from? As I continued to work that day inside of the building, I just so happen to see her came in to use the bathroom. She to me appeared to be severely dehydrated. As she was walking out the door to return to the box on the side of the building. I noticed that all the other employees were looking at her. This included the owners of the gas station who happened to be there at the time giving out paychecks for the week. I asked my boss if she wanted to donate something to eat and drink to the lady. She gave me a puzzled look, thought about it for a minute, and then brought me a chicken leg from behind the Krispy Krunchy Chicken counter. After that she told me I had her permission to get a bottle of water. I thanked my boss, and took the chicken and water outside. When I approached the lady, I greeted her politely, told her my name, asked what her name was, and handed her the stuff in my hand. Ms. Linda began to really talk to me. I told her that I really felt bad that this was all I could do for her right now because I was at work. I further explained that I would be getting off work in about three hours and at that time I would see what else I could do for her. As I continued to work I could not stop thinking, my thoughts eventually started to become judgmental. It bothered me that all my coworkers did not have a problem with talking about Ms. Linda, but none of them talked to her, or wanted to help her. My boss even had me tell Ms. Linda to leave the premises after she was finished eating and drinking. Just because she was worried that Ms. Linda would make the side of the building her new home, and be begging customers for money. In my mind I hated watching the people around me that day treating Ms. Linda as if she was less than human because she was homeless at the time. After all my boss and her husband owned five gas stations. They could afford to help Ms. Linda more than just a leg of chicken, and a bottle of water. So what if there gets to the point where more people in need start showing up for help. Help those you can and tell the others you will pray for them. Whatever you do at least treat them like humans.
