Keep going West young man.
“Nothing that results in human progress is achieved in unanimous consent. Those that are enlightened before the others are condemned to pursue that light in spite of others.” I know that this famous quote by the great explorer Christopher Columbus comes in handy with the scope of my topic. This quote speaks about the true nature of those who dare to go beyond and above to achieve greatness. The Panama canal took the world by storm. Many thought that it was an impossible task, but engineers found a way to split the Continent in half, making the dream of keep going west a reality. Like Conquistadors from a not-so-distant past, man went against all odds to bulldoze their way into the inhospitable soil of the unknown.

Health and longevity
According to some studies, since the late 19th century, the population of the developed world seems to have made a Faustian pact to fool the aging process. In just a few generations, life expectancy gained an additional 30 years. By this time, more and more people are able to see their grandkids grow old. Now is common for an individual to live a long retirement (if you have resources). But in Faust-like fashion, there’s always a price to pay.

The left hand stigma
During my childhood days, I was victimized as part of a marginalized minority. Obviously, I was not aware that something was wrong with me. Until out of a sudden, I was bullied in class for having problems to write a simple sentence on the class board. The school teacher tried to correct my posture, making it awkward for me to keep on writing the sentence. As a kid with a still developing brain inside of my skull, that was nothing that a short visit to the school psychologist couldn’t solve right? You might be wondering what was so offensive that had to be addressed to the principal office? I was standing on the board, with a position that favored writing with my left hand but I was actually writing with my right hand. I was 6-year-old when that incident occurred. I was the first of many.

The perception of beauty
The perception of what we can call beautiful is strongly influenced by the style and trends of the society we’re living in. To explore this bold premise a little bit deeper (with all due respect) I would take as an example two different versions of Venus during the renaissance era. Interesting that two artist living in the same time frame took a totally different approach when it comes to portrait beauty in its purest form. This movement born in Florence was called the “rebirth” of society. Fueled by deeply humanistic approach, the Renaissance era left an indelible mark in history. Some of the greatest thinkers, artist, statement, came from this touched by wisdom period of time. Is not by mere chance that it’s called the bridge between middle ages and modern civilization.

The day the world got smaller
6:45am, a not-so-nutritious breakfast of cookies with chocolate chips and a banana was all I could grab, I was running late. I headed straight to my beloved pool for my morning training. There, my typical day by day it was about to start. I knew that according to my schedule, it was going to be a semi-tough day. 400mts warm up, 2 blocks of 200mts kick only (without fins), 3 blocks of 500mts + 200mts to relax and shake the stress on your muscles after that awful amount of meters between yells and our trainer’s orders. That’s how the day the world got smaller started to me.

Is it worth to be in love in 2021
Why is love so easily dismiss in the New Cinderella 2021? Is that a feminist trait? After being bombarded by a heavily marketed new Cinderella movie by omnipresent Amazon marketing, I decided to sit and let myself be entertained by this controversial new spin on a classic tale. You might be wondering; do you need that kind of content? No, I don’t, that movie was not targeted for me, I’m no audience for it, but I was curious to see how can you make this story more modern and up to date with today’s younger audience.

30 years of Metallica's Black album
I’ve been thinking about writing this for a couple of days. I can’t believe it, 30 years. Last night I decided to go down memory lane and dwell deep into my recollections of this pivotal album in Metallica’s career. I searched for the album on my favorite music streaming service and let the music speak for itself, unbelievably, 29 years after my last listen to this album.
