Lightbulb Moment
Lightbulb Moment (Excerpt from my forthcoming book SOUL SEARCH'N) By defining D.A.D. I came to the realization that many people have a form of narcissism; judges, doctors, lawyers, politicians, celebrities, etc. I believe there is a little part of all of us who wants to be the center of attention; who wants to be in control. But even if it’s not narcissism we posses, perhaps, it’s egotism and the mentality that the world revolves around us; that’s the Damon in me, perhaps, in all of us. It’s an all about me attitude to the detriment of everyone around you. A deep selfishness that doesn’t know any other way to exist.

Being A Shorty
There was an article int the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley Journal (April 15, 2004) written by Thulani Davis that talked about a recent study conducted by Motivational Educational Entertainment (MEE) where teens and young adults ages sixteen to twenty were interviewed about the heightened disrespect and open disdain for Black women. There was one paragraph in the article that stood out to me and made me realize that the issue of disrespect was not just an adolescent one but an adult one as well. The study refers to the teens as “the hip-hop generation” who are most likely children of the first “hip-hop generation” which is my generation. I know just as many men my age who have the same mentality as this younger generation because they were the first to have this “hip-hop” mentality and they have now passed this way of thinking on to their children.

Pseudomutuality
I never realized the amount of damage all the emotional and psychological abuse I was suffering from by my narcissistic mother until I got into another situation recently with someone who I thought was a good friend but who turned out to be equally as damaging as all the other addicts, narcissists, psychopaths and sociopaths I have encountered throughout my life.
