Will 'WW84' Get the Eighties Right?
The crown jewel of the Amazon is set to return to the silver screen, and I can't wait. The trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 - aka WW84 - dropped at CCXP in São Paulo, Brazil a few days ago, and according to YouTube, has already notched 14 million views, and deservedly so. From the thumping beat of New Order's "Blue Monday" to the flashes of neon and the then-cool fashions, anyone who was a teen or preteen in the 1980s will feel wave after wave of nostalgia.

'Star Trek' Legend René Auberjonois Dies Age 79
Hollywood is in mourning with the loss of another great, René Auberjonois. Auberjonois, who was renowned throughout the Star Trek universe as Constable Odo, also was known as a premier character actor who had a good sense of comic timing. Nowhere was this more evident than in his portrayal of Clayton Endicott III, the governor's chief of staff in Benson, a role for which he won an Emmy in 1984.

Big Bird Joins Mr. Hooper
#BigBird and #Oscar were two of my favorite characters on #SesameStreet growing up. I was therefore incredibly sad December 8, 2019, when I learned that Caroll Spinney, who portrayed both of these characters in one respect or another up until 2018 when he had to stop physically playing Big Bird due to balance issues.

Hotly Anticipated 'Black Widow' to Hit Theatres May 2020
I, like many other fans of the #MarvelCinematicUniverse, am looking forward to the release of Black Widow in May, 2020. Part of it is I have a hard time believing just how far Scarlett Johansson has come. She's now 35, but I can distinctly remember when she graced movie screens in The Horse Whisperer in 1998 at the age of around 14 or 15. At the time, I just figured she was a child actress who would probably slide into obscurity as many others have done. Thankfully, I was wrong, and she's become one of the strongest female lead characters in a franchise to date.

"Abortion Murder" for Failure to Do a Non-Existent Medical Procedure?
My road to having two healthy, feisty daughters came with a few unexpected turns. When I was first pregnant with my now-15-year-old daughter, I wasn't exactly sure just how pregnant I was. My cycles tended to be all over the map, to put it politely, and so, when I went for my dating ultrasound and the radiology technician saw a mass around one ovary, the assumption was I must be having an ectopic pregnancy and I was told to head to the local hospital immediately. Fortunately, that was where I met my very coolheaded obstetrician, who explained exactly what my hormone levels should be doing in a regular, healthy pregnancy and said firmly, "They don't make that decision (about whether a pregnancy was ectopic) - I do."

#ReleaseTheSnyderCut: Will It Happen?
#ReleasetheSnyderCut, already. The existence of a Zack Snyder version of Justice League is not new. It's fairly common knowledge that Snyder, who was directing the film at the time, left the film in order to focus his energies on his family following the suicide of his daughter. Replacing him, Joss Whedon, who was, of course, the director of Marvel's The Avengers. Reportedly, it was only planned that Whedon would do whatever pickups and other shots that might be necessary in order to finish #JusticeLeague prior to its November release date. It was expected that Whedon would still retain Snyder's initial vision for the film.

Dear Taylor Swift: We Stand by You
Before you start thinking I've cracked by saying that #TaylorSwift has had a tough year, hear me out. We have this illusion that wealth ensures you have no problems. There are many who seem to be under this somewhat misguided belief that if you're rich and popular, you have no right to complain.

World Diabetes Day 2019: The Family of Diabetics
Every #WorldDiabetesDay, I blog about #diabetes, as one does. Generally speaking, I make some mention of the kid—really, now a manchild of nearly 16 years—who I affectionately dub as my "diabetes warrior buddy." This young man so impresses me that if one were to ask who I look up to, I'd mention his name. He's never let this autoimmune condition—in his case, he has Type 1 diabetes—slow him down, not even once, and he's done more in his 15-and-three-quarters years on the planet than many have done in their lifetimes. In spite of having to strictly monitor his blood sugar levels, prick his fingers several times a day, live with an insulin pump and monitor in his arm, and occasionally wake up disoriented and confused because his blood sugar levels are too low, he still approaches everything with his typical broad smile and positive attitude.
