Men Are Not Getting Enough Credit
I cry. I cry openly. I've always done that. I've always felt a wide range of emotions and expressed them freely. I am a complex person with many facets. I am not some robot that has been programmed by "society" to think and act only one or two ways. And I am a man.

The Abortion Debate Is NOT a Male vs. Female Issue
Alabama just passed strict new anti-abortion laws that would essentially make it illegal to have an abortion except in very few situations. And if you happen to be a doctor that performs an abortion, you could end up going to jail for a whopping 99 years. Heck, this law is so restrictive that the ordinarily ultra-conservative televangelist Pat Robertson has basically said, "Whoa, Alabama, don't you think you went a little too far here?" You know things might be out of hand when even ol' Pat is wincing at the punitive measures being put into place by anti-abortionists.

Alyssa Milano's Sex Strike
After the introduction of a so-called "heart beat bill" in the US state of Georgia that would prohibit women from having an abortion as soon as a fetus has a heartbeat, pro-choice folks are rightly upset. This is a move that would restrict women from getting an abortion after a time period when a women might not even realize she is pregnant. This latest move by a Republican-led state government reflects a growing war against abortion by other "Red States." If there is one thing that Republicans don't seem to like, it's the freedom to have an abortion.

Happy Valversary to Me!
Happy Valvesary to me! I can't believe it has been almost a year since I got my brand spanking new mechanical aortic heart valve. Last May, I had open heart surgery. I did have aortic stenosis, a condition I had from birth. This is a disease where the aortic valve has two leaves as opposed to the normal three, and over time the valve closes up. Not the best situation one can find themselves in. I had surgery in my early teens where a balloon was used through a catheter to open the valve. At that time it was called a balloon dilatation. It did the trick for a few years.

Friday Night with Linda Sarsour and Winnipeg Antifa
I love protests. I really do. I used to live in Ankara, Turkey and MAN there were some amazing protests that I went to there. It was fascinating. And my fascination with protests continues. So, seeing as there was one tonight here in Winnipeg, I decided to go.

Where Is NASCAR Going Wrong?
It would appear that NASCAR has a problem. Last weekend was the annual spring race at Bristol Motor Speedway, in Tennessee. Like many others, I was at home watching the race, but I was dismayed to see so many empty grandstand seats at a track that used to sell out for every race. And we aren't talking just a few seats. At both ends of the track, the grandstands were closed off. There was no one sitting in those areas. Even along the straight stretches, there were a lot of noticeable gaps. No one seems to know exactly how many people were there, as Forbes reports.

Leave My Cargo Pants/Shorts Alone
Recently, there has been a growing war. It's not a war on Christmas. It's not a war on... whatever else people go to war over. It's a war, and a very personal war for me that I am determined to win. The war is against my beloved cargo shorts and cargo pants. It would appear that in the last few years this style has fallen out of favour with critics. And as a diehard owner and wearer of cargo clothing, all I have to say is that I will continue the fight to keep the style relevant and alive. Cargo clothes are clothes worth wearing!

Four Months on from My Marriage Ending
It's been four months since my wife unceremoniously left me. I wrote about the experience a few months back. I just reread it, and tears are flowing down my face. I have shed more tears in the past four months than ever before in my life. My wife leaving me truly is the worst thing that has ever happened to me.

My Story for Bell Let's Talk Day
January 30, 2019 is Bell Let's Talk day in Canada. It's a day where Canadians everywhere are invited to discuss mental health issues. Oh, and of course, a day to promote Bell. There is no shortage of people who are critical of this aspect—the fact that it is a giant, multi-billion dollar company using mental health awareness to get its own name out there. Regardless, the concept is a good one because discussing mental health is never a bad thing. So, despite the criticism, it's a good day to openly discuss mental health. And it gives me a chance to talk about ME! Who doesn't want an opportunity to talk about themselves, am I right?

Je Suis Charlie... Still!
It's hard to believe that four years have passed since the brutal attack on the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris, France. If you recall, on January 7, 2015, Islamic terrorists entered the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and opened fire, killing 11 and injuring 12. The extremists were upset that the magazine had printed cartoons depicting their prophet, Mohammad.
