England Progress To First Knock Out Round Of World Cup
England face Senegal on Sunday evening as part of the first knock out round of the 2022 Football World Cup which is being played in Qatar. In order to get to this stage, they had to overcome quite a tricky group which included Iran, USA and Wales. On Tuesday they beat Wales in a game which saw them reaffirm their place at the top of Group B. This also meant that Wales had to be sent packing as they finished bottom of the group due to the fact that USA beat Iran.

“UK Chancellor Of The Exchequer Jeremy Hunt has picked the pockets of the entire country.” That was the claim made by Labour's shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves following the Autumn Statement which was delivered today. At a time when energy bills are increasing mainly due to implications of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the general public were looking for what support would be available to them to ensure that they stayed on their own feet during a period of soaring prices on the energy market.

Rishi Sunak Wins Race to Become UK'S Next PM
Rishi Sunak has won the race to become the next leader of the Conservative party and prime minister of the United Kingdom. He becomes the country's first ever prime minister of colour and is the first ever Hindu prime minister. These are both major landmarks in British political evolution and demonstrate that there is likely going to be an increase in equality and diversity in British culture and laws due to this. There has been an increase in the number of politicians of colour in the British political system but none that have ever had the top role of prime minister which is a major breakthrough and show that the level of acceptance in British society is increasing.

Host City for Eurovision 2023 To Be Announced Imminently
The decision on where to hold next year's Eurovision Song Contest has been cut down to two cities. These are Glasgow and Liverpool. Ukraine officially won the competition last time round, but due to the ongoing conflict with Russia, it is extremely unsafe to hold the competition there so it was decided that the UK who came in second could host the competition in 2023. There was a wide variety of interest from many cities around the country to host the event. This included expressions of interest from Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield. AS time went on, the judging panel decided the two cities who had the strongest bids and the strongest musical heritage.

UK Says GoodBye To Longest Reigning Monarch
There was a huge outpouring of grief in the UK and throughout the world as mourners stood still on streets throughout the country and in their homes to witness the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. The monarch had passed away peacefully over a week ago and people had been using the time to file past her coffin which had been laying in state in London's ancient Westminster Hall until around six 0'clock on the morning of the funeral which got under way on the 19th of September.

Details Laid Out For Queen's Funeral
The state funeral for Queen Elizabeth the second is being held at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 11 am. It has been decided that this day will be a bank holiday to ensure that as many people as possible will be able to see the service when it is broadcast on BBC Television. It will also be relayed and broadcast live on BBC iplayer so people don't have to worry if they are not near a television at the time of the service, they will be able to watch it online on their laptops or smartphones.

The UK's longest serving monarch has died. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral Castle on the afternoon of Thursday 8th September. The late queen died aged ninety six after being on the throne for seventy years.

Liz Truss Appointed New Uk Prime Minister
Liz Truss has been confirmed as the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. She received the keys to 10 Downing Street after beating Rishi Sunak in the final round of voting to become the next leader of the Conservative Party on Monday 5th September. Following the contest, she went to visit the queen at Balmoral Castle where she is staying for health reasons. Prior to the new appointment, Boris Johnson, the existing Prime Minister had been to visit the queen to resign.
