Protests Against Racism Take Place In America
Protests have erupted across the world, sparked by the death of George Floyd, a fourty six year old black man who died when Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes while Floyd was handcuffed face down in the street.Two other officers further restrained Floyd and a fourth officer prevented onlookers from intervening: During the final three minutes Floyd was motionless and had no pulse. No attempt was made to resuscitate Mr Floyd who had Chauvin's knee on his neck for several minutes. Floyd had been arrested for passing a counterfeit bill at a nearby market. Eye witnesses captured evidence of the attack and this has been widely circulated on social media and broadcast news.

It has been revealed that the Covid 19 Pandemic which began in Wuhan, China has led to an increase in incidents of hate crime against people of East Asian and South East Asian descent. Hot spots for such incidents have been formed in Asia, Europe and the Americas. There has also been an increase in Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia and anti-Semitism.

This can be due to a loss of sales as if they are not in work they can't earn the money that they need to survive. It could also be because their employer or the person who pays their wages is off sick and this means that that employees will have less money to spend on every day items.
