The UK prime minister Boris Johnson's senior aide has held a press conference to discuss his actions after it was revealed that he left his home with his wife and son during a time when the country was meant to be in complete lock down due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

During the conference there was a panel of journalists who put questions to Mr Cummings to find out exactly what happened and the order in which they happened. There were also some questions from members of the public which were mainly to do with different sorts of legislation which were in force and who they applied to. One of the most common questions asked was why the public had to follow one set of rules where as Mr Cummings could adapt them to suit himself.

This is a brief summary of the events that happened and the order in which they occurred.

On March 23rd, prime minister Boris Johnson ordered a strict UK lock down in which he urged the public to stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.

On March 24th England’s deputy chief medical officer, Dr Jenny Harris, is asked what her advice would be if parents with children become sick:

On March 28th, 29th, Downing St officials revealed that Mr Cummings had started displaying coronavirus symptoms.

On March 30th, it was confirmed that Mr Cummings and his wife Mary Wakefield were self isolating at their London home after developing symptoms of the virus. Mr Cummings, together with his wife and son drove to an address in Durham which was 260 miles away. The reason given for this journey was to help find some child care to look after their young son when they weren't well. It was stated that Mr Cummings had a niece who was in the least vulnerable group who would be able to look after and care for his son.

As well as this journey, it was revealed that Mr Cummings, his wife and son made a 60 mile round trip from Durham to Barnard Castle. The reason given for this was to check that Mr. Cummings vision was OK for the long journey back and see if he was up to making the trip. Many people are demanding to know why Mr Cummings went for a drive when he had vision problems as this can be extremely dangerous.

There has been uproar round the country from people who say there is one rule for My Cummings and another rule for everyone else. The majority of the country have been staying in their own homes to avoid the risk of them catching and spreading the virus where as Mr Cummings left his home in order to find suitable child care for hos young son.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has chosen to stand by his aide thinking of him as a loyal father and saying that he can't judge him for what he did.

There is a section in the countries lock down legislation which states that if you are looking after a vulnerable child and they need help or medical attention, you are able to leave home to get this so looking at both sides of the story, we have to ask ourselves, did Dominic Cummings really break the law?

There is still likely to be a lot more arguments and disagreements what ever happens as people are getting fed up of having to stay in doors the majority of the time and not being able to see their friends and relatives to avoid the risk of contracting or passing on the virus. The measures will have to stay in place up to the time a vaccine may be found but no one knows how long this may take.
