Ofgem To Increase Energy Price Cap
Ofgem, the UK's energy regulator has confirmed that from the start of October this year, the minimum amount people pay for the energy they consume will rise sharply by 80%. The energy price cap will soar to over £3549 which will hit people hard at a time when everyone will be struggling to afford the basics which they need in their every day lives.

UK Students Receive Record A-Level Results
Students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland received their A- Level, T-Level and Btec results on Thursday 18th August this year. This was the first time in two years that people's results had been based on public exams, as the examinations had been cancelled in the previous two years due to the covid 19 pandemic. The education of all students had also been severely disrupted due to restrictions which were put in place to work from home where ever possible. This meant that students had to learn on their own using online tutorials and assessments which were set out by their teachers and lecturers.

Diversity Needs Improving On Company Boards
A study in to how different businesses perform depending on how diverse the people on their boards are has been produced using research from Imperial College Business School. This was published in association with the Organisation Science journal. It found that many businesses are more likely to sacrifice gender and racial diversity on their boards compared to their competitors at times of greater productivity. The study also looked at how the composition of the board can affect how quickly the problem can be fixed and found that when a businesses board may have a chair from a black or minority ethnic background, (BAME), they are less likely to reduce the diversity on the board to fix the problem.

England have won the final of Euro 2022 after beating Germany 2-1 in extra time at Wembley. The victory gives England their first major sporting trophy since the men's team won the World Cup in 1966. Chloe Kelly scored the decisive winner deep in to extra time in what was an extremely nervy match in which both teams had opportunities to score and possibly win the game.

Tory Leadership Candidates Take Part In First Head To Head Debate
Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss have taken part in their first head to head debate in their bid to become the next leader of the Conservative party and the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The public discussion which took place on Monday 25th July from Stoke On Trent's Victoria Hall lasted for an hour and was broadcast on the BBC to ensure that viewers knew what the different candidates policies were for when the next general election comes around.

Service Arranged To Pay Respects To Crew Of Salford Bomber
Residents of the city Of Salford as well as the wider community are being invited to attend a memorial service which will help to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Lancaster Bomber crash. Those who attend are welcome to pay their respects at the service which will take place on Sunday 31st July at Agecroft Cemetry on Langley Road, Pendlebury to honour the seven man crew of the Lancaster Bomber PB304 and the two local residents who were killed on July 30, 1944 when the plane went down following an aborted bombing run during the Second World War.

There were around 32.7 million people employed in the UK in the three months to April 2022. This is just above the figures for the same period last year. That's according to the latest Government statistics which illustrate how the economy is managing in the light of the Covid 19 pandemic. During the past couple of years, we were encouraged to stay at home as much as possible and only go out when absolutely necessary to avoid any chance of the virus spreading from person to person more easily. World Prepares To Commemorate Pride 2022
Pride Month occurs every June and helps to commemorate the Stonewall Riots when in the earl hours of June 28th 1969, New York City Police raided the Stonewall Inn which was a Gay Club situated in Greenwich Village in New York City. This sparked a riot among bar patrons and people who lived in the local area. The police man handled and dragged people out of the bar which lead to six days of protests and violent clashes with law enforcement officers outside the bar on Christopher Street in neighbouring streets and in nearby Christopher Park. These riots served as a marking point for the gay rights movement in the United States and all over the world.

Trouble Erupts At UEFA Champions League Final
An investigation is under way to find the root cause of the problems which occurred outside the Stade de France on the day of the UEFA Champions League Final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. Kick off for the match was delayed for over half an hour due to crowd trouble outside the stadium. Many of the fans were supposedly using fake tickets which slowed down the rate at which supporters could get in to the stadium and take their correct seats.
