Snowy Mountains
It was the dawn of Sunday in Wyoming. Gary walked into the kitchen for his first cup of coffee. After he poured his liquid sunshine, he peered out the window. He saw his tire tracks were barely visible and there was light dusting on the cord of firewood that was freshly cut before sunset last evening. Gary lived life to the fullest over the past forty years and this little cabin in the woods was for their retreat. She picked out this private location that had no neighbors for miles. Julie looked forward to the seclusion the mountains offered away from the vibrant New York lifestyle she was accustomed to. Together, Gary and Julie were going to enjoy retirement from their high-pressure and stressful positions in law enforcement.

Dear Mom,
Dear Mom, I want to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day. I feel that now is a good time to confess a little secret to you. Here it goes. When I was younger staying at the campground with Grandma every summer was the best part of the year. I got excited every June on the last day of school knowing that I would be packing up and heading out for two and a half months. We would have the freedom to hang out with our friends that came every year so we could enjoy new adventures and create exciting teenage memories.

Right in Front of Me
I arrived home after work like any other Monday afternoon. Tired and frustrated was the normal mood after work. I grabbed the mail and headed into the house. I entered the house through the garage. I placed my bags down and glimpsed at the pile in my hand. There it was. The information I had been waiting for since the call two weeks ago. This yellowish envelope would determine what I was going to do for the rest of my life and maybe with whom. I was about to open the envelope when the phone rang. “Darn!” I put the manila envelope down and ran into the living room.

Right in Front of Me
I ran out of the house and headed for my car. As I was pulling out of the driveway, I started dialing the home number of my best friend. “Pick up! Pick up CeCe!” No answer so I hung up and dialed her cell phone number. No answer. Where was she at this time of the night? CeCe gets out of work around five o’clock. I tried again and still no answer. I decided to drive over to her house.

The Magnificent Wembley Stadium
Most of us have heard of Wembley Stadium. Athletic and music artists say that they have achieved the highest honor to be able to perform at Wembley Stadium. The largest crowds for music performances since the completion of the new stadium in 2007 have been mentioned for Adele, Ed Sheeran, and One Direction to name a few. This is not to take away from some other artists like Michael Jackson, Spice Girls, and Queen who rocked out to sold-out crowds at the old Wembley Stadium.

Outside My Door
I woke up before the alarm this morning. The darkness was slowly being overcome by light. I grabbed my first cup of coffee and headed out to the lanai. I slowly sipped the delicious hot beverage allowing it to work its magic. I sat in my cushioned wicker chair mentally preparing myself for the day. In my mind, I went through my checklist of what lies ahead of me for the day. I had to go to the post office, the library, stop at the grocery store to get milk, etc.

Re-Planted
Life demonstrated by a Mammy Croton plant Have you really looked at the leaves of a Croton plant? I purchased a small potted plant last spring to put on the lanai. Honestly, I was not concerned with the name or purpose of the plant at the time I bought it. I just wanted it because it was weirdly specked with colors in patterned ways that I had not seen before.

Back To School
It may take a bit longer when opting for courses online, but it can easily fit into most schedules. For some of us, college right after high school is not financially feasible or we just don’t want to commit to more schooling after already attending thirteen years in a row.

A British Holiday
British Vacation Recently, I went on vacation to the UK and wanted to get something to eat. I entered the restaurant and was seated and handed a leather-bound menu to review. The lunch section of the menu said Fish and Chips. After placing my order, I drank some water and reviewed the informational package provided to me by the travel agent.

Where have all the good books gone?
Where have all the good books gone? Books are an important part of our overall development. Books, printed or digital, reduce stress, strengthens the brain, and build vocabulary. The stories teach us lessons about the world, about ourselves, express feelings and thoughts of both information, and transport us to a new place in our imaginations with fantasy.
