New York City
Angela’s Diary Wednesday, April 10, 1912, 7:00 am I cannot believe I have a ticket to go to America. Soon, I will be crossing the Atlantic Ocean to arrive in New York City. We should be there in about 6 days they say. I do not want to be another homemaker or a schoolteacher. Here in Southampton, girls and young women cannot aspire to work in careers that men dominate. My family is not rich, so I am not privileged to attend big universities. My aunt purchased my ticket to commence my dreams in the city as a performer.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Shadow of Our Mind
The Shadows of Our Minds The sunshine is peeking through the clumps of trees of all shapes and sizes. The sunlight plays peek-a-boo with the white fluffy clouds casting oddly shaped shadows. You sit and stare at these shadows imaging what they resemble from a familiar place in our minds in the same way a Rorschach Test is used. You study the outline of the darkened shape, and you are transported. You keep your eyes focused to allow your mind to create a vivid overlay onto the lifeless image your eyes look upon.

SPRING
As we enter spring, our first thoughts are to perform the annual task of “spring cleaning”. To some of us that means cleaning out closets, the basement, or the garage. To some of us it means clearing out the planting beds and replacing them with a fresh and vigorous landscape. However, to some of us it means to perform a complete overhaul on our lives and how we spend our time.
