I am sure most of you have heard about a show called Ghost Adventures which in 2008 was originally aired on the Travel Channel. Starting February 2021, halfway through Season 20, the show has been debuting on Discover+.

If you are not familiar, I can share a little bit about the show. Zak Bagans, the creator, and his team currently consisting of Aaron Goodwin, Billy Tolley, and Jay Wasley investigate locations around the world reported to be haunted.

A typical investigation for them is to start with an invitation to a specific place, whether they ask or are being asked, to determine the level of the spiritual encounters. Most of their adventures are to engage with dark entities that have scared people within homes, businesses, medical institutions, government buildings, etc.

Zak, the lead investigator researches the surrounding area of the location they are going to visit. When Zak and the guys arrive, he interviews the people that are directly and indirectly affected by the activity. He asks thorough questions about the stories of those witnesses to assure that the activity is possible by the supernatural rather than the vivid imaginations of those looking for a quick spot in the limelight. Now it is time to get to the bottom of the unwelcome visitors who have been terrorizing the living.

The focus of the investigations is for the team to communicate with the spirits through various devices that have been designed for this purpose. The equipment is specifically engineered to indicate electromagnetic waves that the spirits as energy to manifest to the human eyes. They use digital voice recorders that can record the non-human voices not always heard by human ears. Visual recording devices are used to catch orbs, movements, and sounds when the guys are in a different room. Another way to determine their presence is the change in temperatures. When the spirits are in proximity, the air becomes drastically colder. They have gradually introduced more scientifically engineered equipment with each passing year. However, I save the best for last.

The crew set up their equipment in the “Nerve Center” that contains the monitors for observing the infrared cameras strategically set up in the building. One or two of the guys will hang back there but the real fun comes to those that get locked in the building to investigate. Yes, locked down in the dark in the middle of the night. Their only means of light are the night vision cameras used to guide them as they are walking about. The cameras are used as POV shots and close-ups. There are also “behind the scenes” crew members filming the totality of the investigation for review later. All evidence is gone through, and an episode is created for our enjoyment.

Don’t get freaked out. Please continue reading.

My family and I have been avid believers that spirits are around us. Not all are evil as depicted on the show. We have had many encounters with the unseen people that have shared residency with us. In fact, I believe with all my heart and soul that my dad was one of them. 10 years ago, my father passed away in his sleep from heart complications. To console my mother during the upcoming holidays, we invited her to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year with us. My father was also with us.

Through many different avenues, my father let us know he was in the house and watching over mom in her time of grief. The first acknowledgment was when my ex-husband’s shoulder was touched from behind while he was doing the dishes. Then immediately after that our dog was fixated on something or someone by the doorway. He sat and stared for a few moments into what we thought was thin air, but he knew we were not alone. To conclude the trifecta of acknowledgment, my phone rang, and the Caller ID indicated that I had an incoming call from “Dad”. I will not lie and tell you I wasn’t scared when I saw the caller ID, but really, we were in absolute amazement at all the interaction my father was displaying with us.

The purpose of this story is to introduce you to the Ghost Adventures series. If you have not watched a single episode over the last 13 years, I recommend you give it a chance. And I also wanted to explain to you that spirits are not always bad, sometimes the supernatural visits we encounter during our lifetime can be good.

This is my personal review of the show.
