Best Nerd Experiences
Obviously a weekend known for amazing nerd experiences was in fact full of amazing nerd experiences and as this was my first SDCC I had a lot of emotional and fulfilling experiences. Though I have thoroughly recapped my time at San Diego Comic Con I wanted to share what some of my favorite moments from the weekend were.

SDCC Recap
SDCC was filled with lots of announcements which of course everyone who wasn’t there has heard about by now. But hearing it from the people actually granting us more nerd content was a truly wonderful experience. Plenty of things social media has already jumped on but I want no nerd left behind! So I just wanted to recap what I thought were the most important announcements from SDCC to make sure that all of my fellow nerds are caught up. From Felicia Day to Invincible we have a lot to talk about.

SDCC Recap
Sunday, our last day of comic con was the slowest day of the weekend (which was a good thing because I was absolutely exhausted from the rest of the weekend) but it was also an amazing ending to an amazing weekend. We got to spend more time in the exhibit hall and we got to experience some more amazing fan experiences.

Barbie
I finally got to see Barbie and damn it Greta Gerwig did it again. Every film she has ever made has made me cry but this one was even better. Now this film was highly anticipated by just about everyone and the fact that it was released the same day as Oppenheimer only made it more interesting. As of right now Barbie had the 24th largest opening weekend of all time and the highest grossing opening weekend of any film from a solo female director.

Revenge
We open season 4 with Victoria in the mental facility saying exactly what the doctor’s would like to hear. And Emily and Nolan hosting a party in their newly redecorated Grayson Manor. David is also about to come out to the public now that he’s been exonerated. Margot’s brother is running the magazine with her and Jack is becoming a cop. This is all apparently 6 months after the end of season 3.

SDCC Recap
For us day 2 was Saturday and though it was slightly less busy then Friday we were still kind of running around a lot. We ended Saturday at about 13,000 steps and my hips were killing me by the end of the day. We not only got a lot of panels and things done, but I got to do some networking and we finally made our way to the exhibit floor.

SDCC Recap
Of course, San Diego Comic Con was the most amazing nerd experience. After about 10 years of my father and I trying desperately to get tickets, and failing, I finally got to go as press with Intermyth and Temple of Geek. I was also able to get my father a pass and made both of our nerd dreams come true. The weekend was packed and when the schedule was released I had a very difficult time deciding what we were actually going to go to.

Oppenheimer
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer releases this weekend and I thought it prudent to do some background on the real person. Historical fiction walks a fine line in Hollywood, it is either very well adapted and humanized so it feels closer and more personal to the audience, or it is a bastardization of actual events and doesn’t even resemble the real thing. Normally the good adaptations add a love story (Titanic, Pearl Harbor) and keep all historical details the same. Now Nolan strikes me as a director that does his research and so the historical accuracy of this film doesn’t necessarily concern me, especially considering that there are 32 pages of production notes. So here we go, how much effort and research went into the Hollywoodized version of Oppenheimer?

Secret Invasion
Secret Invasion has been a wildly boring disappointment thus far and as the series begins to come to a close there seems to be little to no hope for a turnaround. The penultimate episode is consistent, and therefore leaves little to praise. But here we go with the second to last episode of Secret Invasion.

Emmy Nominations
Emmy nominations are out! And though we are going to talk about them I want to go ahead and say that the Emmys have many categories that are all very important. All crew members, visual artists, music directors, costume designers and everyone else that makes TV magic happen should be recognized and rewarded for their hard work. However, so that this article is not 5,000 words long I am going to have to pair down what I cover. What I really want to do is take a different angle here and focus on the shows themselves, how many things they were nominated for and what I would like to see happen. There are quite a few shows that swept many nominations and as we get closer to the Emmys I will be watching the most popular entries and giving my thoughts.

SAG-AFTRA Joins the WGA
For the first time since 1960 the actors and writers of Hollywood are on strike together. This is an important piece of history. The writers have been on strike for nearly two months now with no sign of the AMPTP wavering. However with the actors joining the strike something is going to have to change.

Revenge
So season 3 takes place 6 months after the end of season 2 and we immediately have major changes. We have new characters in Patrick and Margot. We have Daniel and Emily having been together and isolated for the last 6 months, we have Nolan released from prison. We have Jack hating Emily and Ashley being a very aggressive gold digging whore.
