Christmas Movies to Watch

On Hulu

It is now Christmastime and therefore we are going from one streaming service to another and announcing the best Christmas movies available. There are so many Christmas movies out there but being that every channel has its own service they are spread out all over the place. So that no matter what streaming services you have you will not have to search too far for some holiday cheer. Disney+ is full of the nostalgic options for your holiday cheer and Hulu is more for recent history. So this is Hulu’s list of best Christmas movies.

Let’s start with one of the more recent additions within the last couple of years, Happiest Season. I remember the internet being very excited and impressed when this movie was first released. First of all because it stars Kristen Stewart and second of all because it's GAY. It's a gay Christmas movie and since those don’t really exist the internet really appreciated the fresh take on Christmas movies and the representation.

Next up we have The Christmas Calendar. This one I’ve watched every year for the past 4 years because it's sweet and delightful. There is a huge joke on the internet about how all the Hallmark women are bakers but there is something very comforting about that during the holiday season. Especially as I am baking holiday treats. The film stars Laura Bell Bundy as a small town baker who is trying to save her grandmother's bakery and house. It's classic Hallmark, it's cute and it's an easy watch. One of my favorites.

Next up is A Christmas Movie Christmas, two friends get stuck in a Christmas movie. It does a great job at poking fun at a lot of Christmas movies while still playing into most of the classic Christmas movie tropes. It's a very cute movie and I find it quite enjoyable.

Moving on to one of my all time favorite Christmas movies; Deck the Halls. Starring Matthew Brodrick and Danny DeVito, the movie follows these two as neighbors competing for who their small town turns to as their Christmas guy. I have always found this movie hilarious and delightful. It is such a fun watch every year and I will never stop recommending it.

Hulu also has a taped recording of the Nutcracker and nothing gets Christmassier than that. So if you are less Hallmark and more classical than you can enjoy the greatest seasonal ballet of all time on Hulu.

And last but not least we have The Christmas Fix Up. Yes that is exactly what it sounds like, it is in fact a Lifetime movie and it stars Jana Kramer who I love so that is reason enough for me to watch and rewatch this movie. I love Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies. I think they are a perfect way to celebrate the season. Sure they are repetitive and all have the same 3 plotlines but that’s what makes them comforting. Nothing unexpected ever happens in these movies. They are no stress and so easy to follow that you don’t really have to pay attention. Which means that you can have them on in the background while you decorate, bake or do other holiday activities.

Hulu has a lot of these Lifetime, and Hallmark-esque movies. Hulu seems to be the best streaming service for the more romantic and cliche Christmas movies. They are fun watches and the best ones to have on in the atmosphere while you do other things to celebrate the holidays. These are my best “while I wrap presents” kind of movies but this year I think I’ll use them for my baking time.
