feminism
At its core, feminism is the simple conviction that women are equal to men in every regard, and should be treated as such.
The Reinvention of Female Identity
In true Kiwi fashion, New Zealand was the first to grant female suffrage in 1883. The Commonwealth Franchise Act 1902 enabled Australian women over 21 to vote in federal elections. Switzerland, surprisingly, was one of the last European nations to allow women’s suffrage in 1971. In 2015, Saudi Arabia was one of the last nations in the world to grant women the vote.

Mrs. Hart is a lovely mother of two. She used to have a thriving career in a huge company, but ever since she had her twins, she decided that it would be better for her to focus on caring for her children and their household. She would have loved to still keep her job, but unfortunately, she found that most businesses in her area don’t offer flexible work hours and don’t provide parental benefits or leaves. As a mother, this set-up simply isn’t sustainable.

“Stop Apologizing — Do This Instead” is Horrible Advice for Women
Scrolling through the Instagram explore page, I see a video with the text “Ladies! Stop apologizing and say these things instead!”
Foam on the Ocean and the Foundations of a Feminist Identity
As a girl, I was captivated by the mythical realms presented in fairytales. Through them, I could escape the mundane and transport myself into a world of escape. And no tale held my attention quite the way that Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid did.

Crafting: Women's Empowerment
I’m sitting in a bright and buzzy classroom with around 20 other women. People chat excitedly, leaning over to see what their neighbours are working on. Music plays in the background; some people are singing along, others humming their own tune. The occasional squeal pops out as someone finishes their piece, delighted with their own handiwork. We swap colours, we sort beads, we pass scissors, we snip threads, we admire each other’s work. The room is filled with colour and creativity and fun and love.

The man sitting in the largest Zoom box on my screen made his disposition clear- he had two sons, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and valued the input of my male peers more than that of anyone else. I had been shot down and ignored, only to be overshadowed by Brent or Kyle repeating my answer a few seconds later.

It’s a tale as old as time: a woman, with comparable background experience, works just as hard as a man, and yet she’s more likely to walk away with a significantly lower paycheck. In the past decades, we’ve made large strides towards improving gender equality on so many levels. But there are still areas, such as workplace compensation, that have quite some catching to do.

On the first night of Freshers, my roommate and I walked home with 3 men. Although I can now say with conviction that they are good men, at the time they were strangers to us, people we had met a few hours prior.

Feminism is a social and political organization that promotes women's rights on the basis of gender equality. It does not deny the biological differences between the sexes but seeks equality in opportunity. It covers everything from social and political forums to economics. In fact, women's rights campaigns have been the most important part of history in the empowerment of women. Women's twentieth-century campaigns made voting right, public property, work and education possible. Therefore, the essay aimed at women will discuss its significance and impact.

On a random night at the peak of Canadian winter, I was researching how I could improve my snowboarding as a woman. You might be thinking “hey, there is no gender difference in snowboarding”. And in fact, there isn’t. But there’s a huge lack of representativeness for regular women out there, which doesn’t help boost our confidence.
4 Feminist Icons on Television
“What’s the trick to writing a great female character? Make her human.” – Nicole Holofcener, film writer Through decades of television, we've watched women grow from props and artwork to superheroes and storymakers. Writers are increasingly conscious of creating complex feminine characters with their own agency.

Feminism has been around for millennia. When I say this, I'm referring to women who have held some high level of administrative and executive position responsible for the operation of a empire, kingdom, republic, democratic federation and so on. I believe when a woman holds considerable power either domestically, internationally, economically, politically and corporately, I believe it's a sign of feminism at work. Nowadays, I see many women at the top of power. This trend has progressed through the industrial modern era with Suffrage, present day and future. Of course. If a man can do it, so can a woman, right? A society can't function properly if an entire gender is marginalized, subjugated and segregated. Everyone has to be involved in order for it to prosper on a grand scale. Yet it doesn't happen all the time and there's historic evidence to show this. But why was there a need for feminism in the first place? Let's find out.
