Erich Fromm doesn’t come up in conversation outside of academic circles related to psychology, psychoanalysis, or maybe sociology. This wasn’t always true. Fromm was a widely known and discussed figure in his day. His seminal work, “Escape from Freedom” (1941), and his international best seller, “The Art of Loving” (1956), made him and his ideas popular beyond academia. Having recently reread _Escape from Freedom_, I realized how relevant his ideas remain, not only in the U.S. but throughout the world.

Just a black pen and paper. Top Story - May 2025.
Back in 2014... I don’t even want to recall that horrible state, but it was a part of me. I suffered from depression and mental trauma. I know it sounds strange to say that about a 6-year-old, but it is what it is. My family has always loved me dearly; of course, I’m the youngest. I’m Papa’s favorite child, his best friend. Mama? She’s always given me the kind of love that doesn’t even match the idea of a "middle child"; it’s love at its peak. As for my siblings, they’ve always been a little jealous of me… but never unkind. I’d still get treats and special attention, like any youngest child would.
