history
Past politicians, legislation and political movements have changed the course of history in ways both big and small. Welcome to our blast to the past.
Alaska Should Have 19 Senators
» KEY POINTS In order to balance power in the Senate, each State and Territory should receive a set of Senators in relation to their population and another set in relation to the amount of land they control. The Senate should increase in membership while the House of Representatives should shrink. All members of Congress should be elected on 4-year cycles that expire in the middle of Presidential terms, resulting in country-wide federal elections every 2 years.
What is UI UX Design? | What does a UX UI designer do
User Interface/User Experience and User Interface/User-Centered Design are the two terms that relate to each other, but they are not the same as we often refer to them as.
TechnogibranPublished about a year ago in The SwampHow We Can Have Actual Representation in Government
» KEY POINTS The House of Representatives should be elected directly by the people through proportional voting for Political Parties. The Federal Government needs to get out of the business of defining what is a Political Party in order to break the Democrat/Republican oligopoly. 4.4 million people living in the Territories should have just as many rights to representation as those living in States.
Yes, Congress Really is a Bunch of Old, Rich, White, Christian, Hetero, Misaligned Men
» KEY POINTS Congress does not reflect the American people in the most fundamental and even superficial ways. Political alignment, gender/sexuality, race, religion, age, earnings, net worth, and education of Congresspeople do not even come close to the electorate. There is no amount of law, policy, redistricting, quota filling, or any other method that can change the current situation.
Winner Takes All is a Losers System
» KEY POINTS An elected official in the House of Representatives or the Senate cannot cover the will of all their constituents. Their only concern is getting just enough votes to beat their opponents, not actually being the voice of many different people in Congress. Only by eliminating the "winner takes all" system of elections can every person have their views raised in the federal government.
I’m Not Thankful To Be An American
Well, it’s Thanksgiving Weekend 2022. A day of family, friends, food, and thankfulness. I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m thankful for many things this year. One of the new ones for me is being thankful for being a writer. I couldn’t say the same last Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for the opportunity to write so many blogs and to make so many wonderful friends. It’s been awesome to have a voice these past 11 months.
Jason ProvencioPublished about a year ago in The SwampCongress: An Intentional Giant Mess from the Start
» KEY POINTS The House of Representatives is supposed to be the “Legislature of the People” and the Senate the “Legislature of the Land”. Neither are doing the job as intended. How did we get to this point and why is there no cure? No adjustment to legislative rules is going to fix a fundamentally broken system. We must Constitutionally overhaul how the Legislative Branch is set up in its entirety.
You Keep Using This Word ‘Freedom’
Welcome to the Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free. Here is exactly what you are free to do on any of our stirring national holidays, Bruce. You are free to get drunk and burn the hamburgers on the grill. You and the Missus are free to hit the — ack — Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veterans' Day, and/or Presidents' Day sales at Walmart. You are also free to possibly blow your thumb off lighting one of the illegal cherry bombs you had Griffy pick up across the state line last week.

I am so excited right now. I just found out that Donald Trump announced that he’s running for president again in 2024. I’m sure his fanbase of supporters are dancing in their trailer parks as we speak.
Jason ProvencioPublished 2 years ago in The SwampThe Dreadful Compromises that Created America
» KEY POINTS The process of creating the Constitution was so flawed and rushed that only 39 of the original 74 delegates actually signed off on it. Repercussions—both predicted and unexpected—have been rippling down through time because imperfect men made compromises just to get State legislatures to give in. In order to correct these issues and reaffirm the values supposed in the Constitution and purported by Americans, we must approve a massive amount of new Amendments.
The media war to capture the human psyche
Renowned Austrian psychologist Sigmund Freud considered the human psyche to be at the centre of an individual’s emotions, thoughts and behaviour, controlling everything from a person’s interaction with family, friends and colleagues to beliefs about religion, education, death and all else in between.

Photo by Geoff Henson Peter the Great Peter the Great wasn't much for sitting still. A lesson learned when the Streltsy Guard turned the Kremlin walls red long before their time. Numerous blood relatives providing the splatter, the 1682 palace coup kept Russia’s restless emperor always on the run from Moscow's intrigue. So much so that instead of draining the swamp, he filled his own and built St. Petersburg on desolate marshland. He erected a navy from nothing, too, and Russia ceased to be sedate as long as his expansive ways reigned. His son Alexie, on the other hand, was more of a homebody.
