Welcome to our weekly Leaderboard update! We're delighted to highlight Vocal's most popular stories and emerging talents. Join us as we recognize this week's standout contributors and their remarkable achievements.
A reminder of some ground rules we use to formulate the Leaderboard:
The time period of data analyzed for each weekly Leaderboard is collected from 12:00am Wednesday - 11:59pm Tuesday ET each week. Creators can only win one place in one category on the leaderboard. Creators cannot win the same category two consecutive weeks. Creators will win the category that they placed the highest in. However, if the category they placed the highest in is the category they won the previous week, and they placed in another category in a lower place, they will win the category that they did not place in the previous week, in the lower place.

Summer Solstice Challenge Winners
‘Safety Net’, by Meredith Harmon, begins in a confiding tone. ‘What town?’ the tale asks. ‘We're an enclave. We're farmers. We till the soil like our forefathers, and our children's children's children will till it, till the end of time.’ There is a folkloric sensibility here, suited to the prompt, but also something contemporary and practical. This winning story of a community trying to protect and preserve itself has echoes of Shirley Jackson’s famous tale ‘The Lottery’, Meredith is a strong Vocal Creator with 225 stories to her name; and this is her second first place win of a challenge; huge congratulations.

Awesome stories! I wonder if it would be possible to add a couple of new publishing categories to draw attention to stories that involve homesteading, vegetable gardening/farming, and goats or sheep? I feel as if people who write stories like mine lose a lot of visibility because there's no good place to put them (except in Journal, as I did this morning, or maybe "How To").

Vocal, your acknowledgement is subpar at best. I don’t need your $3 honorable mention. Can’t even buy a Pepsi with that here. I challenged you and have seen nothing. Don’t tell me you’re chicken. Show us that you care about your queer writers and storytellers. Show us that the Pride community matters to ya. Release that Pride challenge that you’ve held out on for two years. Do better.
