coping
Life presents variables; learning how to cope in order to master, minimize, or tolerate what has come to pass.
"Mummy, Can I Play Out Please?". Content Warning.
I never go back to my childhood home, because the street fills my head with tormenting memories from my past. However, not everything was negative about my childhood. There are also happy memories mixed in with sadness.

The Calm
She walked over to the edge of the rooftop of the 15-story apartment complex where she lived. It was really dark, but I guess that’s the distinguishing feature of night. The stars above shone brighter today, right? Or she hadn’t been out much to notice their comparative brightness anyways. There was barely any movement below. Some cars passed by and people stepped out of them, walking into the building, but beyond that, even the birds dared not animate.

Anger Management
People lose control of their anger when they lack the interpersonal skills to regulate their emotions and behaviors. Anger management strategies aim to transform anger from an unwanted impulse to a calm response. Basic lifestyle changes like sleeping well, exercising, and eating healthily can also help prevent anger issues. Psychologists, therapists, counselors and other mental health professionals are trained to help people develop the skills needed to manage anger in constructive ways.

Death of a Salesman. Content Warning.
I once explained to a small group my ideas for selling an odd mismatched item. At the end of the discussion, in which I shared a rather off-the-wall approach that actually HAS worked before, one of the people asked me if I could sell ice to the Eskimos.

Discovering the Shadow Self
Trauma. It's a bugger. I've been through a lot in my life. Scrolling back through my life history, it reads like a crazy sad film. I've had so much loss. I thought the trauma was as bad as it gets each time, but the final straw was my fiancé dying in a cycling accident in May 2020. OK, universe, you've had your fun. Do your bloody worst. Oh, hold on, you just did, you f*cker.

Quitting is hard.. Content Warning.
So I have been one to quit many things in my life. Alcohol and various hard drugs, and don't get me wrong... It was not an easy road. In fact, it took me a number of years to get to a point where I was able to walk away from those substances for any consistent period of time.

Life Lessons From A Loner
When the word "loner" is used, it is often associated with a shy, introverted, and quiet personality. These are often associated with negative connotations. As someone who has been labeled a loner more than once, I wanted to discuss how I have come to accept this label. As someone who does not have many friends, I have also learned that one can find solace in spending time with oneself.

Connecting With My Inner Child
At first, I found the concept of an inner child a bit silly. I did not dismiss the idea that we all have aspects of our child selves within us or that childhood does not permanently and profoundly affect someone. But, for the most part, I had a fairly good childhood. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't horrendous. What I believe is a pretty average childhood.
