Clinical psychology

At City Psychology group we offer Clinical Psychology. It is the area of ​​Psychology that assesses, diagnoses and intervenes in terms of the treatment of problems related to the emotional, affective, behavioral and relational functioning of individuals, families and other groups, as well as in the prevention and promotion of mental health.This specialty aims, among other aspects, to understand, prevent and reduce the level of psychological suffering and dysfunction, enhancing the personal development of the client, promoting well-being and full functionality, increasing self-knowledge and helping him to discover and utilize its resources and capabilities.

Educational Psychology

At City Psychology group we offer Educational Psychology. Iy is dedicated to studying the education/learning process in different aspects: the learning mechanisms in children and adults, the effectiveness of educational and psychopedagogical methods and strategies and the study and intervention on the functioning of school institutions and their phenomena. Its area of ​​work includes intervention in problems related to learning, seeking to remove the barriers that can affect the school path of children and young people in the various academic stages.

Vocational orientation

This specialty aims to help young people in their reflection and decision-making process regarding their academic and professional path, so that they can be active agents, participants and responsible for their own future.

Through specialized tools and tests, the Vocational Guidance process involves a careful and in-depth exploration not only of the young person's abilities, tastes and aptitudes, but also of the different training and professional options available. The objective will be to ensure the construction of a safe, solid and better informed life project.

The Vocational Guidance assessment process begins with an interview , which aims to find out and gather relevant information about the young person's background in terms of their school career, as well as their plans and aspirations. Afterwards, sessions are held (of a variable number) in which different structured tests of psychological and vocational assessment are applied, in order to develop the young person's vocational profile (types of reasoning, interests and skills, areas of greater motivation and better performance, etc. .). At the end of the evaluation process, a report is prepared and delivered.which presents the profile obtained, as well as the outline of proposals relating to the academic and/or professional project, with the possibility of suggesting courses, training and/or areas of study or professionals that are more suitable for the young person.

Neuropsychology

Neuropsychology is dedicated to the study of the effects of brain dysfunctions on behavior and cognition, as well as the evaluation and treatment of pathologies of the central nervous system, where the superior nervous functions reside that allow us to communicate through symbols, learn, process , store and transmit various types of information. This specialty acts on processes such as memory, attention, language and executive functions, fundamental functions for us to be aware of ourselves, for our self-regulation and for decision-making.

Neuropsychology can identify, at an early stage, changes in cognitive and behavioral development, in order to subsequently make a diagnosis and apply the most appropriate therapeutic intervention.

The Neuropsychological Assessment aims to obtain a mapping of the deficient areas in cognitive functioning, analyzing in depth several cognitive functions such as: Memory, Attention/Executive Functions, Visual and Spatial Perceptual Capabilities and Reasoning, allowing the realization of a diagnosis, prognosis and the design of a cognitive stimulation plan.

Cognitive Stimulation/Rehabilitation aims to stimulate or rehabilitate cognitive abilities, with the aim of improving cognitive functioning or regaining lost cognitive function. It can have a character:

– Psychopedagogical or Developmental, in the case of children, and aim to develop the cognitive skills necessary to improve academic performance (including re-education of dyslexia and dyscalculia, and attention or memory training), or suppress developmental delays.

– Rehabilitative or preventive, in the case of adults, and aim to cognitively rehabilitate lost functions, or stabilize existing cognitive deficits, preventing their loss.
