Negative Emotions and Positive Psychology

Firstly, we talk about positive psychology and then the existence of negativity in life or Negative Emotions and psychological facts about it.

Positive Psychology is about positive aspects of your life like happiness, wellbeing, and flourishing. Five elements of well-being and flourishing according to Martin Seligman's building blocks of well-being are called the PERMA model: positive emotions, engagement, positive relationships, meaning, and achievement (PERMA).

Traditional psychology focused on clinical aspects i.e. about the disorder it did not talk about the positive attribute of the human. It was Seligman who said psychology is not about disease or disorder rather it is also about the growth and flourishing of man.

Emotions are biological conditions linked with all of the nerve systems carried out by neurophysiological fluctuations variously related to thoughts, feelings, behavioral reactions, and a point of pleasure or displeasure. Emotions are frequently intertwined with mood, temperament, personality, disposition, creativity, and motivation.

Emotional researches increase over the past few periods with numerous fields of underwriting including psychology, neuroscience, affective neuroscience, endocrinology, medicine, history, sociology of emotions, and computer science. The numerous theories that attempt to explain the origin, neurobiology, experience, and function of emotions have only fostered more intense research on this topic.

emotions can also be defined as "a positive or negative experience that is associated with a particular pattern of physiological activity." Emotions create altered physiological, behavioral, and cognitive changes. The unique role of emotions was to motivate adaptive behaviors that in the past would have contributed to the passing on of genes through survival, reproduction, and kin selection.

Negative Emotions

According to positive psychology, we should not repress our emotions, we should express them. We cannot be always happy, it's a life, happiness, and sadness both are part of life. like positive emotions, negative emotions also part of life. The thing which matters is how we deal with it.

To avoid such emotions people engaged them with more extra activities. They do not spend time with themselves because of the fear of overwhelming thoughts.

Suppression of emotions is unhealthy way of dealing with such emotions. In this way, you are trying avoidance as a defense mechanism to face the reality.

Some people to avoid the stressor use regression as a defense mechanism (move to early stages of development to avoid the pain of reality).

If we repress our thoughts it will harm us, we will suffer from frustration, which leads to aggression, and of course, aggression is not a healthy emotion.

Other problems related to the repression of emotion are stress, anxiety, etc. It is a horrible face of Negative Emotions 👽👽only when we repress these negative and disturbing thoughts.

Sadness is part of life as happiness. Sadness is like a crunch in smooth-flowing life. We cannot always have the same emotions all the time. If it happens life will become a bore.

Sometimes it happens we want to delete all negative experiences. It's not a solution. If you did not accept that problem exists then how you will find the solution to the problem.

Remember we cannot delete bad experiences and saved the good ones in our memory. All types of emotion remain saved in our memory until and unless we do not have any memory problems.

The only way to deal with the pain of bad experiences you have to acknowledge your emotions.

Steps to Deal with Negative Emotions

• Embrace the problem that there is a negative channel of thoughts, everything is not good. The Problem exists and you have to open your eyes to see the problem.

• then analyze your thoughts either my thoughts are logical or illogical. What bothering me? are the problem and emotions are real or just these are timely feelings.

• if you conclude that a problem exists then Think about possible solutions to deal with your negative thoughts

• If you take a particular measure then analyze the risk associated with these measures either you will get a positive outcome or a negative outcome and then

• the final action implements the solution. And always go with the solution with a positive outcome as it affects your mood, your health, and so on.
