Somewhere Over The Rainbow
A Wonderful LGBTQ+ Bookshop And Cafe In York
Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole's "Over the Rainbow" is loved all through the world, it has touched millions., and is sort of appropriate for this piece.
Introduction
We are always attracted to the familiar, which is often why people gravitate towards branded things, but I love to discover new things and places and often I am proved right. and I certainly was with "Over The Rainbow" an LGBTQ+ bookshop and cafe in York.
This is their Instagram channel.
The Welcome I Got
I came in and the bookshop was light and airy and the lady behind the counter was extremely welcoming. I must apologise, I have a memory like a sieve. The only name I can remember is Rachel the manager, but everyone was very engaging.
I had a spicy cheese toastie and a can of Tango before continuing my day, but above is the comments board that I enjoyed reading.
The following day I was in a bigger rush but dropped in and got a can, to drink, and that is when I met Rachel,.
I went downstairs and then got talking with the people downstairs and introduced them to my Nick Cave/Dr Seuss/Dt Faustus video which they enjoyed immensely. I will share it at the end of this piece.
I promised Rachel a poem, so I have done a visual butterfly cinquain which I hope everyone will enjoy.
