Write a Poem About Something Rare and Increase the Chance of Winning $1000

Dear Poets,

In this post, I briefly introduce a new writing challenge offered by Vocal Media for poets.

Writing challenges on Vocal Media has become a passion for me. One of the challenges that particularly caught my attention on Vocal is poetry.

As a writer and editor, I’m inspired by the creative and motivating pieces written by the participants on Vocal Media and Medium.

These creators pour their hearts and souls into their craft. I cannot help but appreciate the beauty and depth of their work.

Writing poetry is an art form that can benefit those who practice it. Poetry is a way to express my thoughts, feelings, and experiences creatively.

I’m not a professional poet, but writing poetry allows me to explore and express my emotions in a way that is impossible through other forms of writing, such as non-fiction which is my primary genre.

In my opinion, writing poetry requires a lot of creativity and effort. It is a challenging but enjoyable activity to improve our skills and develop a deeper understanding of writing. I also find it therapeutic. I encourage creators to give poetry writing a try.

Welcome to another Vocal writing contest!

This is another exciting challenge for poets.

The prompt from Vocal Media for this challenge is “Write a poem about something rare.”

You must submit your poem to the Poets community. Vocal will reject your submission if you submit it to other communities. So please be careful. When you submit, you will see this community in the setting of your submission.

Please ensure your poem is under 2,000 words.

The grand prize is, as usual, $1,000. The second place will get $250. And the 10 Runners-Up will get $25 each.

You need to submit your poem by Feb 10, 2023, 3:59 PM AEDT

It would be great to join this contest and increase your chance of being among the lucky 12 winners.

Furthermore, your content might reach out to a new audience. I wish I could write poems. But I am willing to try it one day. Many great poets contributing to Illumination inspire me to write.

A Brief Introduction to Vocal Media for Writers

Any writer can simply submit their post to a relevant community. Vocal editors publish stories quickly with no fuss as long as stories are within their guidelines and have at least 600 words.

Your stories can earn income from any reader. They don’t have to be members of Vocal Media. However, you must promote your content on social media or mailing lists to increase visibility.

I joined a few months ago and posted many stories, mainly repurposing my content published on Medium. Initially, Vocal Media gave me a $10 bonus for joining the Vocal+ program, paying an annual fee. They gave me a 10% discount for paying annually. It is a great incentive for beginners.

After posting my 50th story, I earned a $50 bonus. These are great perks for freelance writers.
