#a tribute

~

there is such a stunning eloquence

to the beginning of life,

newness, growth, the thirst for something more,

stretching and yawning from

one collection of molecules to the next,

differentiating themselves,

following an intricate map,

each destination beautifully unique

as they embark on a journey

fraught with highs and lows,

love and pain,

swells of unimaginable joy and sorrow

til that last heave of air pushes out,

that final beat of the heart resounds.

~

there is a such a stunning silence

to the end of life.

it rings in the ears of those left behind

never quite fully fading.

the echoes join in a choir

of memories lost through time,

ever raising their voices in

harmony,

and we bear witness to the fruits

of this stardust hymn.

we see it.

in the sun shining brightly,

in moments of peace,

in the bloom of a flower

and in the shape of newborn skin,

the cycle of rebirth ushered in

on the sigh of ancient anthem.

Thank you for reading!

I wrote these lines in memory of my father-in-law, who's life came to a close early this morning. Only minutes after receiving the news, did we look up to see that this bloom (in the cover pic) had just opened. A little smile and hug from him :)
