To the Sun

The sun’s warmth

Danced upon a barren land

Raising the first sprouts

Of a welcomed new beginning,

The first thread to start

The ever longed for journey,

The setting of a new home

Of a new lift

In an ever drowning conscious-

It was an awakening

That was long awaited

By all who followed

The same standards written hard

In the stone passed along

Until finally, finally

The words faded and imagination

Crept in,

The way it does,

Through a crack,

Through an open window,

Riding along on a fresh breath

A wind stealing seeds

And dropping them upon the heads

Of those ready for fertilization-

Knowing full well

That their work would not complete

Until Mother’s other hands

Provided their assistance

And realigned a life

Thrust off course

When direction was unknown.

To the sun,

To the rain,

To the soul

We give our hearts.

Just a small kernel, germinating & taking root, working its way through the rigid stones of ossified thought until finding the light, receiving the rains, & giving fresh birth to the imagination & all the world surrounding, singing for joy. Am I close?
