The War

Divided Hearts, Unending Strife

No story to fall on,

No reason to fight,

But still it never ends.

Reasons for war never make sense,

And reasons for peace never heard,

People go mad and rampage.

It never ends,

This stupid war,

Between the two meant for peace,

But never at peace.

A whole cut in half, that we are,

Never to be mended.

Sometimes, it cools,

But we can never be said to be at peace,

A heart cut in two, can never truly be one again.

Although at bay for a while,

The pain eventually returns tenfold.

So is the pattern of this war.

This is our path,

To forever be at war,

Two halves of one.

The war continues,

I doubt its end.

Even more bloody now than the last.

The climax of this story,

Seems to have finally begun.

The denouncement,

Is doubted, even if it is to come.

This might very well be the last war,

Or perhaps it might be a new beginning.

Beautifully, you captured the senselessness of war since its dawn. Good job!
