Courage To Change

Her love will span the edge of Eden,

back to the time when love was born.

To take back her life and her need for him,

that one that left her lost and torn.

She is the wind and fire of rain,

that of the air to turn back time.

Heal the hurt of lost love pain

calm her soul and free her mind

heartbreak

Ah, Kelli, to go back "to the edge of Eden", before the patriarchy & millennia of scapegoating women while excusing so much of what men do, back to a time when love could be love could be love could be love.... This poem is about as close to perfect as it could be, expressing so succinctly yet exquisitely the pain both personal & universal as well as gender-specific (the sins of one inflicting pain & suffering on the other). This belongs in an anthology among the best, most powerful & meaningful of all time. (Or at least in Christian Century.)

  • Heal the pain of lost love pain. That line is what I should do. Loved your poem!
