the colour of love

Oh, how I love you.

Each morning I watch the earth turn for you,

to show you the warmth of a golden sun that

will never match the warmth I feel

everytime you smile at me.

At night when the sky turns to a dark blue,

the earth turns on it's axis once more

to show you the glow of a midnight moon,

which cannot compare to the beauty that

glows from within you.

The green grass below me grows in your honour,

and dances in the song of the wind

in attempt to seduce you to stay with them

just a few moments longer.

I lived in the dark for so long before I met you,

Seeing nothing but grey skies.

A lack of light was threaded through my bones,

making its way up to mind,

poisoning every cell in its path.

Then like magic, you appeared.

You were an explosion of light,

like a prism in the sun,

shining rays of colour all through me.

I saw the clear blue rivers of the grandest mountains in your eyes,

the pink of tulips in full summer's bloom in your cheeks,

the beige of the strongest trees bark in your soft skin,

Shall I go on?

The fire of red in your hair,

the liliac of your nail polish

the beautiful green of tree leaves,

joined by the yellow shadows of the sun

that cast across your face,

almost as if they were just as drawn to you

as I am.

Everything about you is bewitching,

you helped me find the colour inside me,

bringing it up from the deep dark shallows within my core.

How could this connection be seen as anything other than what it is?

Anything other than love?

How could something so pure

make people turn red with anger,

and green with disgust?

If they could see past the fog,

and join us as we bask in the beautiful shades

of the pink and orange painted skies,

they would realize that our shared gender means nothing

when in comparison to the bond we share.

Nothing could make me think that the colour of love

is anything but you and I.

Oh, how I love you.
