That Rare Connection
If you’re lucky you’ll find it at least once in your life time
The connection, the instant feeling of returning home,
That infrequent ability to love unconditionally,
To stand our ground when the going gets tough,
Knowing a soul so deeply within minutes of meeting for the first time.

The welcoming mat,
Arms hugging tightly,
Reading between the lines,
Knowing, just knowing instantly,
Eyes adoring,
Lips smiling,
Ears listening,
The rightness of two hearts beating as one.
***
Undefined loyalty,
Promises never to be broken.
***
Believing in the resounding heartbeat,
Knowing it is beating for you,
Family, but not in blood,
Authentically in truth.
***
That one soul that matches you perfectly,
Be it in friendship or romance,
Never to leave of their own volition.
***
Love,
A strong shoulder,
Who also has the courage to lean on you.
***
The rare connection found once or twice a lifetime,
Allowing you the rare ability to trust innocently,
Knowing your heart will never be trashed, broken, discarded,
Only gently protected and adored.
***
Two original beings,
Meeting and melding to perfection,
Protected by their togetherness from the rest of the world,
As one they love, nurture, strengthen and protect,
Guiding lights until the end of their time.
