sad poetry
The cathartic nature of poetry makes it one of the best outlets to channel feelings of sadness, emotional turmoil, grief and despair.
The Ones Who Couldn’t Stay
I can still hear the words you speak when the west wind whispers through the trees. Sometimes it happens so suddenly that it steals the breath from my lungs, like the world itself forgets I am still trying to survive inside it. A breeze moves through the evergreens, and for one impossible, devastating second, everything stops being what it is now and becomes what it used to be. The branches sway, the needles tremble, and somewhere inside that soft, aching rustling sound, I hear you.
