Hot Dog
I remember it all like it was yesterday. It was Friday, October 13, 2011. Friday the 13th. I should have named these two Jason Vorheese and Michael Myers. Literally, it was two weeks before Halloween. I passed all my classes that semester even math and science my two most difficult subjects and I was happy. Very happy. My dad was happy too, of course. Any parent would be. I was eleven years old. I felt entitled to ask Dad to buy me a puppy. I have always wanted a puppy and it seems a good a time as any. I swore to myself that if I had one, I would take good care of it. I would learn to train it, I would wake up everyday to walk it, feed it, bathe it, etc. I'd never be too busy to spend time with it. And it would be my best friend. I have always wanted a puppy. They are so cute. And I hear dogs are truly loyal and love you unconditionally. Something like how God loves us. Actually, did you know dog spelled backwards is God? So there you have it. Dogs are truly awesome.

The Tree
At eleven years old, I would say that the imagination is most vivid…..I imagined I was a full-grown woman, a virgin. What if, by the transgression of one person, all death came to reign through that one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of justification come to reign in life through the one person Jesus Christ?

Go
“Liar!” I heard a voice say. Actually it woke me up. It’s 3:31am. This is great. I’ll never get back to sleep now. I lit another Newport and thought to myself. I recognized the voice. It sounded like my mother. My mother is dead. She died of congestive heart failure. A code blue. A few days later I was wearing black for her funeral. The color black to pay my respects and mourn. It was always colors I remember to symbolize a fucked up situation. Honestly.
