Wish I Hadn’t

Why did I do that it’s a lesson learned

Wish I Hadn’t

I set a trap in silence

And watched the pieces fall

Certain I could handle

Whatever came at all

I got my man in the end

Caught truth inside my hands

Yet truth arrived so different

From all my careful plans

The look I waited for

Did not bring any peace

Only left more questions

That would not find release

Some doors stay closed for reasons

Some things are left unknown

Yet I pulled at every shadow

Until I stood alone

Now the night feels heavier

The quiet cuts too deep

And thoughts I woke on purpose

Refuse to fall asleep

I wanted proof and found it

Though not the kind I planned

Now I replay the moment

Again and again in my hands

The mind can build a hunger

To know what lies beneath

Then leave us with the echoes

And truths too hard to keep

If I could stand before it

Before the trap was spun

I might have left the silence

And let the darkness run
