Morning Came Too Soon

Why does time do that it’s very sneaky

Morning Came Too Soon

I watched the clock, waiting

Morning seemed far away

Then after I dozed off to sleep

Morning came too soon

It’s like watching a candle,

Its flame dancing along,

To an unheard song

Until the darkness moved on

The room stayed still around me

Silent in every way

Yet somewhere beyond the window

Another night slipped away

Dreams came without warning

Soft as a passing breeze

Then vanished with the daylight

Leaving no chance to keep

I reached for one more moment

To hold the fading night

Though morning stood beside me

Pulling in quiet light

The hours felt endless waiting

Then disappeared too fast

What seemed so far in darkness

Became a memory passed

Now the clock keeps moving

Its hands never stand still

And sleep arrives too briefly

No matter how strong the will
