I'll Never Regret
Verse 1] I’ve seen a heaviness fill a room From just a single word that slips away It takes a second to undo the truth By letting anger choose the words we say [Verse 2] Silence can sometimes feel unkind Like a door that's locked and closed But I’m learning how to hold my tongue To leave the space open for our love to continue to grow [Pre-Chorus] So I tone my voice down Before I turn my feelings loose There are things I could say right now That I would never want to say to you [Chorus] I will never regret a word I didn’t say When the heat was high and pride was in the way So baby, if I go quiet, it’s a form of respect I’m protecting what we have from what I might regret I was never good at sorting it out With a storm in my chest and a mind full of doubt I won’t let anger ignite a flame I will never regret a word I didn’t say [Verse 3] When the dust settles down, I’ll come back honest With no heavy weapons on my breath I’d rather build on what we’ve always promised Then leave us broken over what I said [Pre-Chorus] Let the night cool down the blame Let tomorrow bring a steadier truth I want to tell you how I feel Without making a war out of me and you [Chorus] I will never regret a word I didn’t say When the heat was high and pride was in the way So baby, if I go quiet, it’s a form of respect I’m protecting what we have from what I might regret I was never good at sorting it out With a storm in my chest and a mind full of doubt I won’t let anger ignite a flame I will never regret a word I didn’t say [Outro] I will never regret a word I didn’t say But I’ll tell you I love you when the smoke clears away I will never regret a word I didn’t say

Not Your Best Friend
[Verse 1] Don’t place our love in a trendy phrase That fades with every changing age We are so much more than easy words can hold A promise written deep in our soul You know the quiet parts of me The vows no crowd will ever see Not just a hand to hold for awhile But home beneath your tired smile [Pre-Chorus] What heaven joined, let no one name As something small or temporary [Chorus] I’m not your best friend, I’m much more than that I’m the other half God designed to be your match Don’t diminish what is sacred and true With trendy words that can’t carry us through I’m your covenant, your shelter, your side The one you walk with for all of your life I’m not your best friend when your heart knows why I’m the answer to the dreams you prayed inside [Verse 2] I’ll learn the shape of every scar And meet you where the hard days are I'll be there When sadness fills the room I’ll be there when celebrations bloom And when the years have changed our faces I’ll choose you in that older grace No borrowed title, no disguise Can tell the truth behind our eyes [Pre-Chorus] What heaven joined, let no one frame As something casual or temporary [Chorus] I’m not your best friend, I’m much more than that I’m the other half God designed to match Don’t diminish what is sacred and true With trendy words that can’t carry us through I’m your covenant, your shelter, your side The one you walk with for all of your life I’m not your best friend when your heart knows why I’m the answer to the prayer you prayed inside [Bridge] Call it holy, call it chosen A living vow with doors wide open When the world reduces what we share I’ll stand and say, God placed me there Not a season, not a label But a grace beneath this table Two lives joined by faithful hands One great love, one lasting plan [Final Chorus] I’m not your best friend, I’m much more than that I’m the other half God designed to match Don’t diminish what is sacred and true With trendy words that can’t carry us through I’m your covenant, your shelter, your side The one you walk with for all of your life I’m not your best friend, hear my heart testify I’m the answer to the prayer you prayed inside [Outro] More than a name the world gives away I’m your chosen love, day after day

midnight musings
staring at the moon so intently it doubles vision wanders with thought the others staring at the moon this witching hour brings the ponderers do they also exclaim I am a facet of the all I am a separate piece of a whole so I can know of self and others to feel less alone staring at the moon because knowing I am the observer of the moon and also the moon is far too great a loneliness to bear are we all asking why am I here or are others more assured than I the isolation of ego could kill

Midir And Étaín
Introduction This is my twenty-fourth piece inspired by Justine G. Cappelli's beautiful and inspirational artwork. I love that Justine always gives the full story behind the painting, which gives me more than just the painting to work from.

I'll Be The Villain
Verse 1] If you need a name to carry Put mine beneath the blame. Tell them I was cold and careless, Tell them I walked away. I won't chase down every rumor, Or correct what you repeat. There are battles fought in circles, And I don't need any one to see me. [Pre-Chorus] You can twist the facts to fit you, You can hide them in your notebooks .But a story doesn't alter What was there when no one looked (Chorus] If I have to be the villain in your story, that's okay. I know the truth, and you know the truth, And God knows the truth anyway. Let the room believe your version, Let the curtain fall tonight I can play the part you gave me, And still sleep with a clear mind. [Verse 2] I remember every promise, Every pause before you lied. The distance left between us, The excuses that you filed. I won't turn your fear to anger, I won't make a public case. Some things don't need a witness To remain what they became. [Pre-Chorus] You can polish up the ending, You can call it what you choose. But the quiet keeps its record, And the quiet knows the truth. [Chorus] If I have to be the villain in your story, that's okay. I know the truth, and you know the truth, And God knows the truth anyway. Let the room believe your version, Let the curtain fall tonight. I can play the part you gave me, And still sleep with a clear mind. [Bridge] I release you from the burden Of admitting what you did. I release myself from proving I was more than what you said. When the applause has finally faded, When the borrowed words are gone, There will be one heart before Heaven, And it will know where it belongs. [Final Chorus] If I have to be the villain in your story, that's okay. I know the truth, and you know the truth, And God knows the truth anyway. Let them keep the simpler ending, Let them praise the words you write. I can carry your accusation, Without surrendering my life. [Outro] Call me what you need to call me, I know who I am.
