static in starlight
I don’t remember when it happened, this drifting apart, becoming strangers still tethered by promises, by what could have been. what I do know is that it’s lonely out here. the space between us is a black hole; crossing it is easier said than done, and I have failed every time. when I call to you, do you hear me? can you see me? though I cannot see you, I know you’re there, waiting at the other end, past the emptiness. I stare across this vast expanse of what we once were, looking for you. it’s like trying to watch a love story on a broken television screen. all I see is static. but I feel you pulling at me, goosebumps on flesh and pinpricks of whispers in my mind that remind me you are somewhere. like I said, it’s lonely out here. both of us lost, searching for a way back through. there is no map leading from me to you, we are not charted amongst the galaxies. you can’t chart static in starlight.

The Shock of Webs
Fine silver webs form from the spider's body, black and divine wherever nature calls. Never in greed, but always in hunger. The arachnid waits for its next meal to strike upon the lines it's woven, and when it does— the shock of impact travels through the lines, vibrating its long legs, and sending its body into a natural state of work.
