Floating through life
Minding my own business
Little knowing what I was missing
Happily keeping most at a distance
Proudly keeping my heart wrapped in its layers
Then along came you
Why’d you come here, sticking yourself where you weren’t wanted?
Inserting yourself into a peacefully content existence?
Usurping my feelings and leaving behind chaos to rein?
For the sparkle in your eye makes my knees weak
While the shiteating grin on your face puts butterflies in my stomach
I’m too old to feel this damn young
Your touch leaves a fire trail in its wake
Are you even aware of the havoc you create?
You’ve raised what was dead and dying from its early grave
With my nerves on edge, I can feel as you bring me to a quivering mess
Gushing, I float within your Water sign, no longer rooted upon this earth
My Zodiac anchor broken, I’m fully capsized within yours
Sensing that my drowning will bring a life to us
Does this mean I should let go, for once, and take a dive?
Do I give you my trust, or will you let me sink forever below the surface?
What’s in the cards for us is something I’d like to know
But when I’m with you, I’m tongue-tied and stuttering
Happy to just listen to you as you talk and joke
I told you before, I’ll never love again, but
I may just really like you…a lot
