What’s in a moment?

Seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades,

scores

blur into each other, peripheral

in the rearview.

Moments are central—

focal points in a land of

lines and plains,

precise pointillism,

expressive impressionism,

these glimmers, these time-defying

interruptions of mundane drudgery,

these raw emeralds and amethysts

memory-tumbled, smoothing away

sharp edges, imperfections,

polished smooth until your thumb

slides like glass

when it visits the surface of

the experience, discovering

hidden facets, planes with

some roughness left,

reminding you, hardness

is measured on a scale:

the harder they are,

the better they tumble.

Only a diamond

can cut a diamond.

(S)tumble your diamonds

in diamond dust.
