Quiet little town, with mysteries you only know,
And a population kept purposefully thin;
Your residents would surely hate to see you go.
*
The town appears to be all a-glow,
Quick with your own small, reassuring grin,
Quiet little town, with mysteries you only know.
*
A population boom now would be quite the blow,
Inviting in nosy looky-loos beyond your kin;
Your residents would surely hate to see you go.
*
This new population will only disrupt the flow;
Oh, which of the scapegoats upon this you will pin,
Quiet little town, with mysteries you only know?
*
On and on this little town continues to grow,
Alas, out of control its darkest secrets now spin—
Your residents would surely hate to see you go.
*
Rustic town, your skeletons and bodies now show
As your growth casts down new light upon your sin.
Quiet little town, with mysteries you only know,
Your residents would surely hate to see you go.

Reads like a suspense compressed novel... (high praise from me)! "Rustic town, your skeletons and bodies now show As your growth casts down new light upon your sin. Quiet little town, with mysteries you only know, Your residents would surely hate to see you go."
This is rather disconcerting. All curtain twitching and skeletons under the floor boards. Loved it! 🤍
This feels very macabre!
