Poem Challenge: Pick a vowel and ensure that every word in a poem has this vowel
A poetry collection for all the vowels (except Y!)
Picnic with Aliens
Ants carrying fragments:
— meat,
— — marmalade toast
— — — chocolate croissants
— — grapes
— smashed orange beverage
away towards an ant abode
Airplanes overhead, a clear gaze towards space
— aliens anxiously asking…
— — are all earthlings always relaxed and eating?

Other Being's Dreams
Every now, every then
Dreams enter their realm, their consciousness.
Are these beings essentially sentient?
Are we hopelessly misperceiving empathy, independent intelligence?
These dreams are where
we see the reality
we see where we relate
we see when we behaved the same —
eerily.
We see ourselves enter their role, forgetting reality.

Highlighting Injustices
This is ice,
This is pain,
This is loneliness.
This brain is filled with:
appalling experiences,
unfair actions,
jarring memories.
Memories highlighting differences,
highlighting racism
highlighting injustices.

Orange Oversized Overalls
Schoolgirl frolicking alone,
sporting orange oversized overalls,
doodling unorthodox portraits, cartoons, illustrations
across our playground, without worry or concern.
Observers opine, offering unsolicited words,
of communicated expectations,
of norms, of “how mademoiselles comme nous should conduct ourselves”
Opinions reconstructing self-concepts,
encouraging conformity
overshadowing otherwise outstanding outcomes.

Unrest
Up upon upraised immunity,
you urge us, “support surrender!”
underlining our unhappiness, frustration,
undermining our unity.
You dub us
unfitting under your utopia.
Our journey unravels your exclusion
undoing your jurisdiction
authorizing ridiculous stipulations —
uprooting supremacy.

“The Vowel Poem”
What’s your favorite vowel? Mine’s E. Pick your favorite vowel, and write a ten line poem in which every word uses that vowel. It doesn’t have to begin with that vowel, or even use it prominently (i.e. get it’s main “sound” from the vowel). It just has to be in the word.
