too busy to show human compassion
A poem I wrote from a combination of workshop prompts and too many YouTube videos.
JL's music career on the six is her greatest
acting achievement snatching back her husband's tips
with nanny's working slave contracts
she's too busy to show human compassion
*
OW boasts about a special drug
and gets her followers addicted
now there's a shortage and outrage
the ones who need it can't get it
*
Don't get me wrong SS is a great guy
their music makes you feel something
but must we see their derriere wobbling
beneath fishnet tights under red lights
*
as for JK I don't always agree with
everything thing she has said and done
but we can't forget she's the reason
why so many hold a pen and a book
*
I don't know much about MM
but they blame her for the rain,
an old lady's death, and a man's fall
she wants privacy in the spotlight
*
Those childhood stars we related to
learning about the stuff they did to you
I'm not surprised that some of you "rebelled"
Profit over welfare - a real horror story
*
and as for those crooks to the left and the right
all dining with the elites as anti-Robin Hoods
if there's one thing I've learned it's that one
should never trust the words of a politician
*
These celebrities we should admire and politicians to trust
and the services we should depend on are used and abused
like puppets on a string spat out on the streets to rot
is it any wonder we have a crisis in every single sector?
*
The world's gone downhill since MJ died
Then shattered after the talented DB died.
it never matters how technology advances
as the birds fly by and fall to their death
*
They talk about making this planet cleaner
World leaders and activists need to stop
bombing the shit out of each other
but they ban plastic straws instead

Congratulations on your top story
Nice. Congrats on top story. I only got MJ also.
nice
Congrats on Top Story.
Back to say congratulations on your Top Story! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊
They're trying to ban TikTok too, like removing an app will improve all the problems we're having. Insane. Great poem. Thank you for using your platform to bring awareness to these issues.
Marvelous ballad!!! Loving the last stanza!!💕❤️❤️
This is an outstanding poem, Chloe, and your words reflect the brutality of politics today. I loved it!
Nice
I'm with Paul: that last line is a drop the mic moment.
Lots of depth here. I didn't guess all of the names, but I'm pretty out of touch.🤣 Congratulations, Chloe!
Back to say congrats for Top Story - not surprised and I love the plastic straw line. It's stuck with me.
"But they ban plastic straws instead." Fantastic last line. There is such a lot of noise out there it can be hard to hear the big stuff.
I appreciate how you discussed that celebrities and politicians often disappoint us by not using their power for good. It also reflects on the worsening state of the world despite technological progress.
A lot of food for thought and truth here. Further to Dharr's comments - just want to see if I've guessed who they all are correctly - Jennifer Lopez, Oprah Winfrey, Sam Smith, JK Rowling, Meghan Markle, MJ is obvious and David Bowie...?
The only one I know is MJ 😅 I think I know who OW is but I may be wrong. I have no idea who are the others 😅 Loved your poem!
