My Love Is A Rose
For My Muse
This is an excuse to re-air my cover of Neil Young’s “Love Is A Rose” which I recorded when rehabilitating my left hand. People say I can do a good Neil Young impression, this is me with the band Spoon covering “Rockin’ In The Free World”.
I was eating a meal then I couldn’t grip my fork. I went to the doctor and she said she wasn’t sure but it may be a TIA, a minor heart attack that leaves virtually no trace. I told my boss at the time and he told me he wanted to stress everyone in his team as much as possible. I no longer work for that company, anyway after electric shock treatment we worked out it was a trapped nerve and it was resolved by surgery, but that is a whole new story.
So I wanted to write a poem for my Muse based on the “Love Is A Rose” phrase, and thought maybe “Love For A Rose” or “Love of A Rose” but then they may think that I see myself as Jack to my Muses Rose but I’ve decided to keep the original name with the word “My” added,
I will use a Butterfly Cinquain again as I don’t need to rhyme and the lines are based on syllables.

My Love
She Is A Rose

My Muse is the one that I Love
My Love
She brings Sunshine Into My Life
She Cares For, And Loves Me

I must say, you certainly rose to the occasion beautifully with this one, Mike. Loved it from beginning to end.
