Molecules of Love

From Alchemy to Chemistry

If we could fly among the clouds

we would be able to feel them

not every single time

but usually after the clouds had poured

their loads down on the world below

Rain mingled with molecules of love

the reason why rain is rarely

undesired or a nuisance

The water soothes many thirsts

the molecules of love

all broken hearts

and all those who need some more

Chemists have analysed rain water

unable to find any purported love

perhaps ignoring that such love

evaporates more quickly than H₂O

It has to come in contact with flesh

before hitting any ground

although trees and other life

absorb them for their love wants

Alchemists of yore all knew

that gold really meant love

Who cares about any metal

when priceless love is the

currency of every god and mortal

Thus flying between the clouds

we would feel the residue of love

which does not volatilise

but begins to accumulate anew

molecules of love for the next rainfall

If I had to make a guess

unscientifically of course

I would surmise from what I know

that each molecule of love

contains special instances

of oxytocin dopamine and serotonin

the happiness resulting from love

love poems
