The Cameroonian Dream

THE CAMEROONIAN DREAM:

We all have our individual dreams, nevertheless, in every community because of societal ideals, we tend to have an umbrella dream; or should I say, our parents tend to dream alike.

In Cameroon, it goes like so; go to school, study hard, have excellent grades and you will get a well paying job, lobbying especially for government employment. This may have been a success pattern in the 90s, but the tables have been affected by times and seasons yet many families/parents have remained in the 90s. Do you know that if your kid got into the medical school 7years ago and you were certain of direct government employment, in 2024, it's no longer the case?

Is the education of a child not necessary any longer? Not so. The question is: what kind of education are we serving our kids in this generation?

The government is not able at this point to employ over 50% of her population, thus, the private sector has borne a large percentage. And this has led to the highest form of exploitation of labour, which has led to gross unemployment largely due to the UNWILLINGNESS OF THE PEOPLE TO BE EXPLOITED, AND FRUSTRATION. This bane has promoted a huge MIGRATION OF OUR YOUTH to serve a workforce in another man's land.

It is time to create new dreams and aspirations. WAKE UP AND CHANGE THE NARRATIVE!
