Solace in the sun

The sun breaks through, dawn’s disc of burning fire

that lights these skies of deep cerul’an blue.

An early morning swim is my desire,

then mountain stroll that’s hand in hand with you.

We relish summer’s silken dappled light

that falls betwixt the leaves of evergreen.

I chance a kiss, as gratitude for night,

a kiss returned thrice-fold, our hearts are keen.

And having walked we find a place to rest

where Aperol, good food, and laughs abound.

You lean to place your head against my chest.

We whisper words of love, fine feelings found.

We’ll dance ‘til dark, we’ll sleep and then repeat.

Beneath the stars this love is sealed, replete.
