Lord of the Rings Triology
Haiku Book Review (that's right, blame Judey)!
Since I published one on "Twilight" (one of our son's favorite series, both in written & video form), I guess I might as well share the one I wrote as a comment on Paul's (I think) haiku review of "Lord of the Rings". This one is perhaps a bit more serious & relates to one of the more important themes Tolkien wanted to stress, but typically gets short shrift & underplayed. The vital spiritual & ethical importance of not killing Golem but actually caring for him, protecting him, attempting to help him, & allowing him to tag along.
*****
Gollum, unexpected,
The necessary hero
Unwitting, but true
*****
As a pastor, I have often emphasized the importance of treating both Satan/Lucifer/Devil/Demons & Judas Iscariot with humility & grace. I figure if God cannot hold out grace to them, there can be no grace for me, either. And if there is no hope for them, there is no hope for me, either. And yes, I loved both "The Good Place" & "Charmed" where the humanity of all were kept to the forefront, as well as their hope.

I did love The Good Place.
I love your message 🙏✨
Interesting critique for the haiku Randy! As well as your statements below. I remember growing up I’d always had issues particularly with Judas, if he was destined to do what he was going to do why should we feel such lack of empathy for him. Anyway those thoughts were half a lifetime ago, but thanks for sharing this. ☺️
Brilliant haiku. I love the movies and the books. I agree about Gollum. Jesus always went to the downtrodden, the diseased, the rejected
Interesting
I totally agree with your perspective on this! Brilliant Haiku-review!
Loved your author's notes just as much as the Haiku! Great work!!!
Wow very thought provoking. Well done Randy ❤️
Much to ponder!!! Well done!!!❤️❤️💕
Yes, I have often thought this very thing. God uses us in mysterious ways not expected.💙Anneliese
Oh that was a really unique and interesting take on that. I don’t know if I’ve ever quite heard that expressed in those words. I like the explanation to go along with everything. Great job!
What a thought-provoking take on this one. I liked it :)
Love this!
Interesting take...🤔
This is a great take on the Book review Haiku. Very well done.
Awesome 👍 💥💛
Wonderful Randy. There is much symbolism and heart just in those few words of your haiku. Great job!!!
Ah The Good Place! Springboard for many interesting discussions
Excellent points Randy
Satan must emanate from G-d if there is any truth to any of it. Ultimately, G-d is responsible for all "evil". But what is "Evil"? One man's Evil is another man's "good." If I kill a guy trying to kill me, bully for me. This is good. To the putative killer? Not so much. We cheer when we lead a man to the death chamber, but what of it? So he committed "evil" as WE define it, because we have the power to do so, the jails and cops to enforce our rule. But to HIM of course, this is an unfortunate evil. Maybe he's innocent, eh? All things must emanate from the same source, and that source is One Single Energy Source, one consciousness, that conceived and dreamed what we call evil (as defined by the Two-Headed Mephisto of Church and State). To the State, anything that threatens the power of the State, the control of the State, their control over the masses, will be defined as "Evil." G-d must have already been corrupted or infused with this metaphysical stuff, that can not be weighed in a scale or placed ina balance; thus is an abstraction. In point of fact, evil is a term that is defined by those who have the power to do so, to compel the masses to accept their definitions and knuckle under to their rule. All suffering must emanate from G-d. Predation is a factor of existence, and a thoroughly "Good" G-d could hardly be accused of creating a world in which everything must kill and devour to survive, a world based in physical suffering. Hence, I post that G-d Himself is either Evil inherently, or that "cursed are the believers in Good and Evil, for they are frightened by shadows."
You’re on a roll Randy and you make a good point.
I totally agree with this Haiku 🙂👍🤩
